anyone doing a parkrun double tomorrow?
I've got my beady eyes on Peckham Rye and Tooting Common as I'm missing both letters from the parkrun alphabet.
However, I have a feeling that I'll get bladdered tonight and do the two nearest instead

Yep, planning to. Tring then Wendover with a nice 5k along the Ridgeway inbetween. Hopefully family will meet me with coffee, picnic and down jacket at the end!

Best one that turned up that day, so enjoy it.
Had similar (albeit smaller scale), tri club Sprint and Olympic distance wins this year. I'm not the best swimmer, cyclist, runner or triathlete in the club. One of the founders advised me not to make excuses for winning, as plenty of others will be busy doing that for you ;) -

as I turned up and won it I should talk about it.
Defo!

Impressed by everyone who made it to 1 or even 2 parkruns today, seen a few on the lfgss run strava group.
Burnt my last racing matches of 2018 at Bowstones Fell Race in perfect conditions yesterday, really happy with 21/398 result.

Double Parkrun today, had forgotten how great they are as I don't get a chance to go all that often. Training plan had 12x400m intervals at 7min/mile pace so I condensed them into one Chipping Sodbury Parkrun. Thats how it works right? Started off feeling fresh thinking I could even push for a sneaky PB, but quickly realised that a week of terrible sleep and a cold would make the target pace much harder that it should be. Held on and finished just faster than target. Type 2 fun.
Club mate took 30s off his PB so all in all a successful run.
Chippenham Parkrun I jogged round with club mate, much more social pace and chatty. Made him work for the line by constantly saying "that guy in blue, you can take him" and repeat for the next person. Good clean type 1 fun.
As always massively impressed with the organisation, volunteers, runners etc.

Pint of Guinness, 6 cans of Guinness, a bottle of cava and two baby Guinesses helped prepare me for my double today. Nothing vintage, but 23rd at Wanstead and 13th at Valentine's was nice. Just over 20 mins for the first, and just under 19 for the 2nd.
This was after doing the festive 500 last week, so I was quite pleased.
The 19 mins at valentine's is only 20 seconds quicker than last April, when I ran it with my 3yr old twins in a pushchair, so room for improvement. In the right direction though!
Happy new year by the way

Yep, brilliantly supporting and inspiring thread, well done everyone!
2018 highlights were the scenic beauty of the Trail Marathon Wales and coming 7th in my first ultra in Suffolk Endurance Life event. Lowlight bonking badly on Thames Meander two weeks after ultra.
2019 Target survive Escape from Meriden and somehow accumulate the required points for 2020 OCC ballot entry with training runs for EFM. Also want to revisit Thames Meander and do it properly!
Cheers

London marathon entry confirmed!
There was a record attendance at Osterley parkrun yesterday morning. There were more than 500 people, which beat the previous best by nearly 200; they resorted to paper finishing tokens!
It was the first time I have run the new course and it was a lot faster - I got the sub 17 clocking on the first day of 2019. There are still some beautiful views but they have gone to two laps and cut out the hairpins. I highly recommend it if you are ever out towards west London.

20:49 official time for yesterday's Chipping Sodbury Parkrun, so revising my targets for this year to include sub 20min 5k :)

Tasty start to the new year! I'm awaiting confirmation of London Marathon entry, but before you get too excited, I'm unlikely to race it. I'm keeping my pacing options open; assuming I don't get a late call-up as an official pacer, I'm interested in offering my services to anyone on the Champs start aiming for a time slow enough for me to pace comfortably (e.g. female club mates aiming for sub-3 or thereabouts...)
Only running I've done so far this year is 2.6 miles round trip to the gym and back this morning for a 30 mins indoor row (7,787m, 1:55.6 pace). Apologies in advance if I get more excited about rowing than running for the foreseeable future! :)

I’m planning on doing more running this year, and have joined the lfgss running group on Strava. I’m not sure what my goals are, other than to vary my exercise regime a bit and make the most use of limited training time during the week.
I like the idea of doing some park runs once I’m running consistently, but they clash with my daughters dance classes so it’ll only be possible in school holidays.

Need to do more speed work this year and start attending parkruns on a Saturday morning as a regular yardstick for 5k pace. Anyone else do the Leytonstone one?

Long shot, but is anyone able to recommend a running club in Melbourne? I’ve just moved here and I don’t have a bike so joining a cycle club seems unlikely. I’m looking for a fairly social club to try and meet some people.
Also, any forums that someone could recommend that might contain some more local info?

Very jealous. No idea about running clubs, sorry, and completely off track, but what is the job market like in Melbourne?
-
• #19870
How serious are you looking for?
-
• #19872
@Lebowski I really can’t possible comment on the job market as a whole yet. We arrived on December 18th which meant nobody could be bothered to hire us given the proximity to the Christmas rush. PM me for me deatails
We’ve also discovered that January is also a bit of an off-month. People only start working in earnest in February. So for the last 3 weeks I’ve been running, drinking beer, brunching and swimming, but not working.
@juanito I don’t mind. I could probably do 2 clubs. It’d be cool to join a club that challenged me and got me to get some good times but I’d also be happy to go for a casual run which had a few pints after.

This place sounds awesome! I may contact you in Feb to find out some more info. Melbourne is looking like my escape route if this place goes to hell over the next few years

Come do the Hackney Marshes one with me when I’m back next week.
Indeed @5awyr well done - kept that one quiet.
And what's the target marathon - sub 2:45?
No substantial runs in the last weeks and the vapor flies aren't going to get an airing tomorrow. :(
