  • And Righto.

Let’s hear your 2019 targets! And 2018 running highlights.

Also, general big thumbs up for this thread. Great to see such a buzzing and supporting group of runners.

  • 2018 running highlights

    Sub 17 5k.

    DtD 'black' finish.

    2019 targets

    Another sub 17 5km, sub 35 10km

Sub 1h40 at Race the Train, Tywyn

90 atcf at Meriden? Focus on this before August might conflict with the above goals.

  • PB at London Marathon and 100miles at Endure 24 are targets for first half of 2019. PB should be achievable, I managed 4 hours last time and I'm a lot fitter now. 100 though... We'll see.

  • Highlight and lowlight probably got to be my unexpected ultra duathlon. Signed up for Hamburg Ironman - weather was unseasonably hot, enough so that the blue/green algae in the lake got to unsafe levels and the council declared nobody was allowed in the water. So it became 6k run/180k bike/42k run.
All going swimmingly (minus the lack of swim) until half way around the marathon where my almost-never-happens-but-very-occasionally-does-fashionable-sports-induced-asthma kicked in and I had to run/walk for about 2.5 hours. So while I'm aware that an Ironman [branded event] should be a fairly big deal, it was bloody annoying how it panned out.
Planning to put it right at Challenge Roth next July. Maybe even get a swim at the start of it.

  • Let’s hear your 2019 targets! And 2018 running highlights.

2018: No real highlights. Crap year, stress fracture, other 5-a-side injuries, put weight back on, etc.

    2019:

    • Lose flab
    • London Big Half in March. sub 2h
    • London Marathon in April. sub 4h15 (ideally sub 4h)
    • Back to Parkrun PBs and eventually 25->24->23->22?
    • Keep weight off
    • 10k swim in November
    • Half or full Ironman in 2020?
  • Yep, brilliantly supporting and inspiring thread, well done everyone!

2018 highlights were the scenic beauty of the Trail Marathon Wales and coming 7th in my first ultra in Suffolk Endurance Life event. Lowlight bonking badly on Thames Meander two weeks after ultra.

2019 Target survive Escape from Meriden and somehow accumulate the required points for 2020 OCC ballot entry with training runs for EFM. Also want to revisit Thames Meander and do it properly!

    Cheers
