I was being a touch ironic. But fwiw, most of the supermarket varieties are vegetarian-friendly.

Co op deep fill - £1 a box of six = best pies as yet.
Not too sweet, pastry was good 8/10. A touch more butter in the pastry would have got them to the magical perfect score. Will be banged again soon.

Nah mate, the pastry is deep fill but they're not deep filling. I've taken to opening up a 2nd one, scooping some filling into the first, and then using the bare husk of the 2nd as a walking around snack.

Mine were deep fill to the topof the filling top #boastpost
Good mincer hack though on the spare shell. Maybe keep a jar of mince meat to hand to fill it up with though?? -

Thanks! The topping recipe is from here. I just used shop-bought mincemeat and a simple Nadiya Hussain pastry recipe which I make in the food processor (and then make the frangipane straight afterwards). The pastry is:
Put 200g plain flour, 125g cold cubed unsalted butter and 1-2tsp icing sugar in a food processor and blitz until it forms breadcrumbs. Add 1 beaten egg and process until it forms a ball. If it doesn't come together add cold water 1tsp at a time until it does. Form into a ball, wrap in clingfilm and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Then, roll out pastry between 2 sheets of baking parchment, cut circles to make cases in tin, add mincement, top with frangipane, smooth over to the edges, sprinkle with flaked almonds, bake at about 190 C for 20 minutes or until risen and nicely browned.

I know a guy who used to blind bake his own shells and post them back to the customer service depts of large supermarkets in order to get free mincer vouchers. the economics of it made total sense once you broke the £8k p.a. barrier on mincer outgoings (MinEx).

Mincers, what’s your MPD working out at? I’m currently at about 2.89 per day for Dec to date.

Probably skirting just below 2 to be honest. 3 yesterday, 1 today.
Mix of M&S goldbox and redbox. Keeping it real with pure 6-decks. Moving away from London has made me really appreciate how disconnected the scene is down there.

I'm averaging just over 2.
I was in Waitrose as I happened to be passing and needed mincers and a bottle of gin. I was delighted to see a sign by the Chrismas goods section proclaiming "buy two, save £1!"
That'll do me nicely; I added two six decks of Waitrose "1" (yeah stupid f***in name) mincers to the basket.
Checked out, relieved of much hard earned currency, did I receive my £1 discount? Did I f***!
Beware this deceitful practice and stick with m&s red box.

Made some late night mincers for work drinks tomorrow, all vegan and taste pretty fucking good, made the mincemeat the other week out of fancy organic fruit and plenty of nice spices and brandy.

Very vertical sides. Great to see influence coming in from the East-Midlands porker school.

I got a new muffin tin yesterday especially, and an attempt on Sunday with what we had in but was much less successful. Had some leftover pastry so had a mincemeat Samoa earlier with a brew.

I just got given a frangipane tart at work, nowt wrong with that I thought. Until I realised it was an ABOMINATION of a mincer!
From bottom up we had:
Shortcrust - actually quite good, a nice crunch without falling apart all over my keyboard
Frangipane - a little on the tasteless side, sweet but not nutty
Mince - ON TOP OF the frangipane. Actually delicious and a nice apple-y flavour. Not enough of it and poorly distributed.
Flaked coconut - Please forgive me.
Icing sugar - Will this torture never end?The bits where the mince was were delicious, but those pockets of heaven were few and far between - 4/10

Morrsions in store 4 pack of very best mince pies were good, apart from the smell.
You know when you open a fousty bin lid? But once it's dissapated, left with a decent pie. 8/10 going back for more in a minute -

Source of this mincer impostor

Come early January you'll be sweeping the late night stores with hollow look desperate for that mincer hit before they disappear for another year. Triple deck six packs will disappear in seconds. Sugar rush will follow, joy will follow and then a sense of utter despair at what you have done........................
