  • No. Entire thing. It is scratched all over

  • This is where it is at...

  • Excuse me but there's a derailleur hanger stuck on the drop out.

  • Yes. I don't know how to get rid

  • Wah wah.

  • Serious question - thought about making the derailleur hanger a little longer so says, a standard Shimano 5800 derailleur can go up to 11-36 with a double (for example).

  • I did think about it yes. I don't need bigger than 11-32 tho and shorter is stronger in this case as I can't have replaceable hanger.

  • I finished the first roughing toolpath. There is a bit of a fillet left as I chipped the end mill at some point. I will revisit that tomorrow before going on to finishing tool paths.
Steel is 4130 and this is only my second time machining it so I am excited to learn and improve.

  • Strong work. Did you make the disc mount aswell?

  • No. Bought that off ceeway. It was well cheap and I can't improve it.

  • Mega shit!

Cocked up machining tool path... £20 out the window :(
Lesson learned. Remachining in late Jan. No fixie for hard day in Jan

  • Buy the Bob (or a Dolan) then

  • Bob Jackson doesn't have eyelets for mudguards and I believe I was quite unpopular last year spraying everyone in the face.
I think the solution is to use DBAD SSCX with disc forks and see if I can borrow a 130mm fixed rear wheel...

I do have a pair of Surly dropouts with hanger in Aarhus I could use... They are the same as what I was hoping to machine.

  • Or buy the Bob and a couple of p clips

  • Muligheder, ikke begrænsninger

  • Use surly for the moment and then make your own for V2.

  • I have a 130 spaced rear wheel...

Thanks mate. I'll contact you in Jan if I don't get this working in time. I am currently quite optimistic about it all. Luckily I have the Surly dropouts in my frame building box at home and I might just TIG them on to save time...

  • What went wrong?
apart from a notch in the slope on the LH cowl, I can't see it...

  • There is a 6mm deep groove along the flange on the face of the dropout. The contour tool path machining the flange sides went too deep. I just didn't spot it as I didn't run a simulation before machining. Basically a rushed job and my mate who assisted me (my first time using Fusion 360) didn't pick up on it either.

  • Weight weenie is ur inspiration

  • Well it could work but it looks shit. I have thought about filling the cavity etc but it is stupid. At the end of the day I learned a lot and want to do it properly now

  • Bummer.
    Thanks for explaining.
