@fredtc thank you for the links and your opinion, too ;-) I am embracing the New England lifestyle now that I am a NY resident... I've spent the last week in Vermont and New Hampshire and can't get moc's out of my head... I should add - I definitely am not looking for boat shoes. I really dislike them. A traditional New England Moc/Blucher/Guide boot is what I'm after.

Paraboot?

They aren’t too much like the moccs you posted, but I couldn’t resist these NOS... it’s been too cold to wear them since purchase. These are pretty rare Varese shoes, probably zero value but hard pressed to find another pair now I guess.

They are one of the few pairs of rubber soled leather shoes I’ve bought. Kinda saving them for that weather.

Quite liked the open tongue, woven top and wraparound stitching. Bit grandad-y, but way classier than a boat shoe.

Paraboot's are incredibly expensive in the U.S, unfortunately. Also not quite what I'm looking for. The list fred provided should sort me out.

I’m almost sure I have a pair of Timberland shoes which are almost identical to those posted above.

I wear my paraboots 4 days out of 7 at least. On my third pair. Love them. And I’ve got ‘a guy’

The big label puts me off Paraboots. Heschung are in a similar vein and more refined imo https://www.heschung.com/en/148-boots

Just picked these up from RW after a resole, I’m very happy although £90 seems a lot they look really well and they are worn a lot and have lasted 3 years.

That crepe style sole is an absolute pain to work with, not surprised at the ££

Sorry and thanks to the cobbler, it is far more satisfying to have them back than to buy a new pair.

Must get this working, the finisher that came back from Italy with me.

Doesn’t work on the mains due to being a stupidly energy-sucking two-phase motor. Planning to strip down and replace with a modern energy saving motor. It needs 1/2 HP, so planning maybe a 3/4 HP servo motor sold for sewing machines.

It’s money I don’t have right now, but would be great to get working and get some of the older shoes sorted.

Planning to switch one polishing wheel to carnauba too, and work with leathers for the watch pouches etc.

No idea on exact age of the machine, some decades for sure.

Yep, those are very nice. Can't help but feel they'd get trashed very quickly here though. Waiting to see what happens in the sales. If the Bureau put any of their's on sale, I'll be quids in due to the weakness of the £ and not paying VAT.

In reality I should probably just get some Blucher's in the spring and wear Bean Boots all winter like the other 90% of New Yorkers...

Lots of Bass Weejuns in TK Maxx but I got these Bass Derbys in wine leather for £50 which are still £210 on their site. Made in India and Goodyear welted and the leather is fantastic.

Still trying to bring myself to break in a pair of oxblood Loakes I bought off here. They look great but stiff as ****.

You can use cobbler’s cream rubbed into the inside (the inner leather sock of the shoe). Leave it overnight, wear them around the house an hour or two at a time. The cream does the same job as foot sweat, which is a key ingredient in breaking in shoes well.

I've worn them round the house a few times, starting slowly.

Suppose it's only been 7 months. Some of my shoes get worn less than once a year....!
