No, that's Blade Runner.

Watched LOTR - part 1 yesterday.
It's actually a really crappy movie. Not sure I can manage another 6 hours to complete the series.

No, that's the Dodgeball-on-Ice-With-Will-Ferrell one.

Watched Mandy last night, enjoyed it. Surprising and dark in just the right measure.

Don't. I only watched the first one, and found that so depressing that I didn't watch any of the others. I've read about them, though, including the fact that director and scriptwriter distorted the most important scenes in the book, probably because they didn't understand them.

I only get to watch movies when flying, so this year's movies courtesy of Turkish Airlines are:
Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri - awesome performances from McDormand, Rockwell and Harrelson (who I've never really rated before)
Isle of Dogs - way too quirky
Early Man - not up to Aardman's usual standards, but still alright
Tomb Raider - quite true to the game, but that's not really a good thing
Lego Batman Movie - silly, not bad
Lego Ninjago Movie - shite
Kingsman 1 - silly, not bad
Kingsman 2 - shite
Swimming With Men - shite
Black Mass - shite

To be fair a remake of a James Cameron movie is always going to come up short.

I went to see Mortal Engine's last night purely because I had to use my remaining cinema token from my subscription thing. Wow, what a pile of dross. Left after forty minutes. Some of the worst acting I've seen in a long time. To make up for it I shall watch Roma, tonight.

Tried Mandy, did not like it. I did like "beyond the black rainbow" the director's first effort, this was just tooooooooooooo much the same/too slow.
In the mouth of madness is i suppose a proper Lovecraftian movie, but while it is well acted and directed it didn't work for me. Try "the beyond" instead for a lovecraftian vibe.
Hellraiser 3 = crap, stick to 1 and 2.

Re: Mandy. Lol, I just assumed I was being impatient because I was hungover rather than it being slow. Definitely a fair criticism.

mandy is the best movie of the past ten years you don't know what you're talking about.

Mandy and Lucy eh? I see a theme.

Excrutiating. So glad I didn't pay to see it.
I thought the bit about biting the head off the guy was one of the worst deliveries in cinema history. Then they repeated the same line! -

A very Murray Christmas - i want it to say its shite, but then i cannot, its Bill Murray , but it was .
That netflix Christmas thing with Kurt Russell - so meh.
Big Hero 6 - so so so meh.whenever i end up watching kids movies and getting bored, tired, sick of the screaming and chasing nonsense - it makes me appreciate the ones that have been done so well that everyone can watch them and enjoy them at all different levels.

I just went through a list of TV films I we Christmas and set up the TiVo to record a bunch of them.
It was like when I was a kid and doing the same thing with the Radio Times and the VHS. Just a lot quicker. And no tapes to worry about.

Re-watching Asterix. The magic potion is clearly a steroid-amphetamine mix
Watched Roma this afternoon, Wasn’t expecting much - a year in the life of a maid living with a well off family in Mexico City in the early 70’s sounded dullsville - but it pulls you in, looks great, sounds great, makes you think. Without doubt the film I’ve enjoyed most this year. And I think it’s been a very good year for films.
