If you had rolled it out to 2mm you might have got enough for proper lids.
Pastry stars on a mincer make me very uneasy. Makes me think they're trying to throw me off. Distract me from something.

Forked out £2.95 for a Paul A Young 'mince pie'.
Should't have bothered.

It was lovely, but mincemeat topped with brownie is a bit too far IMO. Pastry was only 7/10 too.
Better off with 12 from Lidl.

Bread Ahead on Beak street just delivered - albeit at a price point that required a re-mortgage, and with a pastry colour several shades too dark - ample filling, soft soft fruit, lovely crunch / crumble on the pastry and a controversial sprinkling of granulated sugar that I whole heartedly embraced.
Will Mince Again. Maybe Before Sunset.

Paul Young the blue eyed soulster wouldn't been seen dead spending the best part of three sheets on a mincer.
He's a key member of the 16.66 recurring club - a reference to the gold standard price of a single pie in a six deck.

She the bed.. I’ve been buying them 12 at a time... good job I’ve been sharing them around.
In other news, someone at work baked chocolate brownies which they literally inserted halved mince pies into before baking to create mince pie chocolate brownies... I couldn’t eat them because eggs/butter but they looked mighty good, if a little wrong in principle. Bet they’d give Greggs a run for their money in the calorie department.

I have never had a Gregg's mincer.
I went into a Gregg's on Tuesday to get one.
They had none.
NONE!
YOU SHOWER OF SHITS DID THIS TO ME. DIDN'T YOU? I JUST CANT TAKE IT ANYMORE.

Greggs have never made or sold a mince pie. This whole thread was designed to entrap you.

I hate all of you.

What mate? Mince empanadas? Seems pretty noncanonical.

Some mince pie chatter in this article.
Anyone tried the Morissons? -

Picked up a box of their all-butter mince pies today. Wouldn’t call myself a connoisseur at the level of the regulars in this thread, but I thought they were a solid effort: pastry held together well, the mincemeat had a decent depth of flavour (I think the brandy + cider is a nice touch). I would deduct marks for the dusting of powdered sugar, but that’s a personal preference.

powdered sugar
Unacceptable Americanism. Please consider who may be reading this.

I think I may have found the Rapha of mince pies; nice but pricey.
Dunn’s bakery in crouch end. 1.35 each. Very good but leaves a hole in the wallet as deep as the filling. -

Dunn’s bakery in crouch end
One of the few places left in Crouch End that was there when I was grew up round those ends.
Glad to hear that they still knock out a decent mincer.

Henrietta Inman at Yardarm in Leyton charges £3.80 for a mince pie, but they are worth every penny.
Perfection piesonified

Morrisons' ones are pretty dece. Good crust, filling needs more booze. Inferior to Tesco's Finest.

I took a long hard look at those Yardarm ones yesterday but decided to pass as I already had some supermarket ones. Your review has convinced me to go back.
