Agreed. It was very practical when the bike was my commutourer, but it looks odd now.
I'm thinking of removing the welded rack mounts, and have it resprayed the same colour, but this time the logo will be polished aluminium, and maybe lower stays too. Like a ZR2000 or whatever the following generation alloy triple triangle were....
That or transfering all the components on a Reynolds GT Edge aka the uniGTorn, if I could find one -

I'll sell a kidney
Get a threadless fork and an AHead Salsa stem, then at least you can get some of your kidney back when you realise your mistake.
-
• #121954
I tried to find a straight threadless 1" fork, but couldn't.
If you have any suggestion, I'm all ears.
My options, or at least the last time I looked, for 1 inch straight forks, were Time (on it) and Kinesis Wedge or Aero; other potential candidates were Reynolds Ouzo or Tusk.
Given the chance, I'd love Carbon and straight, so if you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them! Thanks! -

Does he have 4x concave washers?
Possible to have any other concave washer on there?
I know it should be on the inside but that was set there for picture purpose š

anyone into this bottom bracket standard stuff? tried to find reliable information online but all I got was headaches.
got myself a second hand quarq dzero advertised to be GXP, turns out to be BB30 with an axle length of 95mm plus 5 mm spacer (so actually BB30A or not?). my frame has got a BB386 evo standard with 86,5 mm BB width. is this going to work out with a PF30 bottom bracket or am I totally fucked? refund is an option but it was cheap so I wouldn't mind tinkering a bit.

Fit the loose crank to the axle. Is the gap between crank faces at the axle more than 86.5mm? If so, it will go in a 386EVO shell, you just need to sort out which spacers are required to fill the gaps. AFAIK, all SRAM road "BB30" cranks except Red Exogram are actually 386EVO

According to https://www.quarq.com/product/quarq-dzero-carbon-power-meter-chassis/
"BB30 versions ship with the spacers and wave washer required for BB386EVO installation"
-
• #121961
I got the aluminium version, which, according to the quarq website will not work with bb386 shells... so swapping to a carbon version of the cranks would to the trick?

You'd need to check with Quarq, but it looks as though that's the case. Of course, buying new carbon cranks might affect the notion that you got the power meter cheap...

@SeƱor_Bear how's the finish on that fork, i have it on my watch list since month..
-
• #121964
I like it. Rides nice.

• #121965
Good decision!
I've ended up ordering a custom stem because I just couldn't deal with the 28.6mm steerer clamp vibe.
-
• #121966
I have one as well. Finish is fairly nice, the end of the steerer (uncut) was only 95% round. It was round at the point where I cut it though, otherwise I would have chucked it.
The integrated crown race is a bit of a pain as it limits headset choice.

@SeƱor_Bear
Feel you about the stem, I ordered two CNCed 1" ahead stems from USA E-bay, looking forward to receiving them. Will be limited to 26mm bars though...@Carabo I guess I will risk it, I currently have a nice used full carbon fork (suspect it might be FS4) but I dont like how much flex it has when braking and not knowing how it was treated before.
I am also planing on building a nice straight lightweight fork (600-700g) and repainting my Koga Miyata. Will update once the fork and stems are here!

I'm looking at CNC 1" Stems, could you pm me the links? TA

Time Club forks (the same model as yours) came with 1ā threadless steerer. I know because Iāve recently threaded one.
-
• #121971
Mine was the same. I assumed this was part of the manufacturing process as I've had branded forks with similar.
-
• #121973
i'm sure he does, but it would indeed be easier to ask your lbs.. :)
-
• #121974
I've struggled with my one inch Columbus minimal carbon fork, really hard to set properly the headset. Any recommendation (can't see on picture above if you're using any) for well machined spacers? Everything i 've found/ordered online is so shit, mad play around the steerer...

• #121975
They were a lucky find. I bought them used.. the forum popular was the crmo agressor stem, but i couldnt find that either...
That's a good point I will probably disregard.
I know they look wank, but I want to see how ugly they'll look for myself. I'll sell a kidney and give it a go.
-edit- and yes I realise these forks are nice...
-edit- Tester, how about a Kinesis Wedge?
