I've used ICE Tech rotors and normal cheaper rotors and have no idea if there's a difference in performance (I don't care if they measure lower temps if I never notice this as a benefit) so the last one I bought was the cheaper type.

Back again, are the finned inserts worth the extra?
Nah, unless you're doing alpine descend in the scouring heat where you want to prevent the brakes from overheating.
(admittedly having done that with cheap Clark pads at 30 degrees, it still didn't fade).

Back again, are the finned inserts worth the extra? Looks like @hippy had some a couple of years ago but there doesn't seem to be a consensus on whether they help at all (in this thread according to my searching)
I recently had to stop a ride because my rotors/pads/whatever were sizzling so I'm thinking maybe a good idea. That was with SRAM DB5.
