Anyone tried the ‘Shackleton Blend’? Currently half price at £20 on Amazon. The other £20 was probably the execssive marketing, but wondering how decent the actual spirit is...

That's it. It's piqued my curiosity since I read that too. For the sake of £20 and based on the tasting notes, it seems worth a punt.

Shackleton whisky has a rich and rewarding taste with an initial wave of treacle toffee, molasses, demerara sugar and sweet sultanas, followed by glazed pineapple, freshly baked bread, mango cake and hot mulled wine, finishing with a sprinkling of pontefract cake, praline chocolate and oolong tea. On nose buttery vanilla, toffee apple, brioche with marmalade, followed by cinnamon spice, cooked apples, banana bread and ginger cake, finishing with a hint of gentle smoke, salted bananas, liquorices and creme Brule.

Pondering this . I need a nice Christmas Whiskey right?

If I was going to be picky, I would prefer to have seen them use Pinot Noirs from the Williamette Valley in Oregon over anything from CA.

Tough one. Plain old Woodford Reserve is so nice and I've not had an expression from the distillery that's better than the standard (i.e.: Double Oaked).

Could be good. Could lead to regret that you didn't buy 2 bottles of the standard instead.

Shackleton is £20?

I just got this last week from amazon, free delivery, came next day as well. hic!

The one bottle I'd love is a Glenfarclas 15 (or 18) but it seems this distillery is fairly resistant to sales. The 12 is so lovely but again I was hoping for an Xmas whisky

The 15 is only 50 quid, I'd start to worry about a dip in quality if it was on sale for a lot less, Master of Malt have the the 21 year old for £80 at the moment, amazing price, that would be a great buy for Christmas.

Woodford Res was £23 in Sainsbury's today, still not a bad price to see us through the next week or so.

It's 20 at Tesco. Missus got me a bottle with vouchers.

Bargain there yep, as I was more than £3 of my time & effort away from a Tesco I thought 23 was a good enough price too.

The American oaked Auchentoshan is £17 in coop. Figured it worth a punt for that.

Just got some Woodford reserve in a big Sainsbury’s just outside leeds for £23 was going to get some Hudson baby bourbon, but couldn’t pull the trigger for £30 for 350ml

I'm going back for more bottles...
