Unless, of course, you're simply suggesting I finish this bourbon instead..

Wait. Which bourbon?
-
• #3905
A cheap one. Don't judge me, it's going in coke.
-
• #3906
Will make things a bit claggy , no?
Oh wait. Sorry. My misunderstanding.
-
• #3907
I did write 'with coke' and thought better of it.
Double Oak Beam. It was £20 at Co-op.

Tried an old pair of 700c guards......seems ok. VO Zeppelins ordered!
-
• #3909
Cool, fingers crossed for more coverage then.
Any of the people that bought a set of the £16 Bluemels from Spa, who delivered them? Got a card from APC the other day so have rescheduled it for tomorrow. Hope it’s the guards and rim I need to convert my Surly 1x1 to commute mode as the shitty cheap coaster on my current beater/shopping bike seems to be dying a little more every day.

• #3910
I was going to order a couple of sets from them. Should I? Did I miss the boat?
-
• #3911
They’re still at that price on their site. Out of stock on a couple sizes though so I guess it depends what you need.

Anyone had a go with these? 75mm guards so supposedly wide enough for 65mm tyres, like 2.35"s? Possibly getting a bit wide for commuting frankly. Still weighing up my options for a tire/mudguard combo for winter commuting on a Brother Big Bro, I was thinking get the bigget possible but... Maybe that's too big

What kind of surface are you commuting on?
-
• #3915
Just like... Roads...

• #3916
Bluemels arrived from Spa.
They must be oe or something coz they came with no packaging.
The fuck is this front guard meant to do? It’s short as shit! Definitely gonna have to add a flap.

I ask because 2.35" tires are ridiculous for road commutes unless they're part of some fitness program.
-
• #3918
You're probably right but Jan Heine something something supple something something rolling resistance something something internet bike warriors telling me to get the fattest rubber I can something something.
Maybe I'll stick to 2.0s and non stupid mudguards.
-
• #3919
you're wrong, commuting on 2.35 big apples puts a big smile on my face.
-
• #3921
I commute on 2.35" big apples. They are comfy as fuck.
-
• #3922
I don't doubt they're comfy. I just think their weight overwhelms their advantage.
-
• #3923
Yeah but.. how much weight difference is there going to be between 2.35 and like.. 2.0 ? Or is this one of those rotational mass something something centripetal force something something laminar flow something something
Contrast the probably impalpable weight difference with the very palpable instagram likes.
-
• #3924
Weight differences will vary with chosen models. Try it out and report back.

Front coverage from those £16 Bluemels really was gonna be terrible.
Luckily I had a cheapo rear clamp on guard kicking about the garage. The fit ain't great at the top but coverage should be pretty sweet.
