Car appreciation... the aesthetics, the engineering, etc

The owner didn't know, but I assume it was the cam belt cover that was too small on this engine but got updated by VW later on. Reading on some South African forums a lot of people had issues there when they drove a lot in dusty environments, but this car hasn't so a bit odd tbh. Unless gravel roads can be considered dusty environments, but I wouldn't say so
