Thanks for the clarification. I was also under the assumption that mint is box fresh but I understand that it's very much open to interpretation by everyone. He said that for the majority of the wear he gave it, it was on a NATO which makes me even more worried about the wear rate of the titanium on these.
Nope dealing in CAD, which according to XE works out to be about $675 at the current rate.I liked the idea of a Titanium version as it takes it a bit further away from a straight Sub 'homage', especially with the straight sword hands. Now I'm second guessing myself.
This is why I can't have nice things hah. -

It does look way too worn. I’m all for wear and tear, but at the right price.

For me, there is nothing wrong with the watch as you have described it and going by the photos. I also really like the model for the same reasons you mention...it is actually quite unique. I'd just be looking for a little more money off it due to the desk diving scratches though. Personally speaking, I'd be tempted to get the credit card out if they went below $600 CAD.
Those bracelet marks are entirely normal for a well used daily wearer. Does it come as a full set with warranty card?

A brand new Ocean 1 Ti bracelet costs 95 euros directly from Steinhart.

The ad is here > https://www.kijiji.ca/v-view-details.html?adId=1393110561
I originally offered $625 after he told me that he had turned down offers of $550 but he said the minimum he would take would be $650.
I tend to over analyse big purchases like this at the best of times but part of me is thinking I don't need any more watches. Another part is saying just buy a new Ocean One in Steel and put the scratches on it yourself over time. The other part is saying stop being a fanny and just buy this one.
This is the bit I struggle with when I think about actually stumping up the big cash for what I've always actually wanted which is a Speedy which leads me to believe that I'll probably never actually get to the point where I feel like I can pull the trigger on one. I think I'm destined for a life of cheap/affordable watches. -

I read the review on (I think) Hodinkee for the Ti Steinhart, the chap liked the watch but hated the bracelet due to the ease of marking it, so put it on a leather strap (IIRC) and liked it a lot more.
Having read that review I would get the steel one, personally.

Another?! Lucky so-and-so...
(Very nice.)

If I were you, I'd walk away from it. Hes asking too much. If you really want that watch, you'll be able to get a better condition one for the same price or less.
Separately, if a watch dealer ever described a watch in that condition to me as mint, I'd turn round and walk out of the door.
"MINT condition Steinhart Ocean One Titanium 500 Premium." Literally the first line in the ad. He can go fuck himself.

Maybe I'm being too harsh. They tend to sell for 660ish CAD on eBay in that condition.

Hah, I'm glad I'm not the only one second guessing myself. Have you got any experience with prolonged wear on a Ti watch or have you exclusively worn steel/precious metals?
-
• #31662
No hands on experience I'm afraid.
-
• #31663
I'll mull it over. Thanks to you, @Dammit and @pdlouche for your thoughts on this question. I'm aware that I'm in danger of being that annoying forumonger that constant posts asking what he should buy and then ends up doing nothing but I do really appreciate all the advice and guidance that everyone on the watch thread gives.

• #31664
Could be worse, could keep posting the same watch with flags on it.
-
• #31665
No that's fine. You're the forum's resident Stendardo expert.

Not a disaster , I note your use of the word "copy".
-
• #31667
As an aside, how does ordering from Steinhart work? Do you pay the 'without tax' price and then once it's in the country, DHL or whoever is carrying it make you pay the VAT prior to delivery?
-
• #31668
Its such a close copy that I don't think I could tell the difference between the Ploprof and the 600 if I was blindfolded.
The Omega mesh bracelet is marginally more solid than the Helson.
-
• #31669
It's not mint. Mint is in the box and on its cushion un worn.
But as the master of disaster @Stonehedge says, the Ti marks very easily.
-
• #31670
Oh and the Ti version, is ace to wear.
-
• #31671
Do you have the Ti version? If so could you enlighten me on how it's wearing over time? Is there a need to worry that with daily/weekly wear I'm going to have to recase it in a number of years?

Vintage Breitling Topman Chronograph
Lovely looking watch. Way to small for me. Sadly.
-
• #31673
Just my opinion obv. But if you're deliberating this much I feel like you shouldn't buy it.

Saw a bunch of Prospex at the watchmaker too, tried on that Seiko save the planet edition or something, with the amazing blue dial. Shame it wore big on my skinny wrists.

You could be on to something. However, I tend to do this with every "extravagant purchase" that I buy. Kind of takes the fun out of it if I'm honest.
Ha ha. Just saw that Helson re-issed their Sharkmaster 600 model, which is their Omega Ploprof copy.
Apparently they sold all 500 units within 48 hours. Bit pissed that I missed out.
