Makes us two, though I tried v-brakes for the first time

We’ve all done it. Also jumped on a Saffa mate’s Intense freeride bike and went to haul the front up by grabbing the rear brake and rocking back. Locked the front wheel instead and raked my right shin straight down the studded pedal. Massive shin burger. I still have the scars.

Went to test my newly built 'cross bike in crystal palace park, in the dark. Climbed well, braked well, shifted well under power. Went down for another loop, hit a kerb and burst both tyres.

I heard* nuclear fusion was only 30 years away.
(* when studying A-level Physics in the late '70s). -

I did my degree work experience at JET in the mid 90s. It was 30 years away then as well.

Are you London/Wests-based?
Would be very interested to learn of your experience. -
• #24294
North London.
Was studying technical illustration. I drew some graphs, the content of which I didn't understand and can no longer remember. Bit of a waste of time, as these things usually are.
First day was quite interesting tho. Lunchtime clay pigeon shooting jaunt with people I'd only met a couple of hours ago.

The more up to date (and equally depressing) version might be that we spend more on in-app purchases in games like Candy Crush or Golf Clash then on nuclear fusion research.

The president of Grindr wrote on Facebook that he believes “marriage is a holy matrimony between a man and a woman”, sparking backlash inside the gay dating app company.
Heh. Did that myself some years back up on Hampstead Heath. Richard Ballantine (as in Richard’s bicycle book) had bought along a Trek mtb fitted with Magura hydraulic rim brakes, we’d never seen them before. I took a spin on it, barrelled down a hill and grabbed a handful of back brake for impressive skidz. The front wheel locked instantly and I wiped out big time.
Much embarrassment.
