They do kinda need to know when you’re coming back, unless you have been signed off by a Dr.

Never had this with any other job though. Other places would want me to keep them updated if I was ill but didn't expect me to call every day; as long as I got them my self-certification paper or a doctor's note if I was staying off for more than a week they would accept that.
Then again my last job used the Bradford Factor and were real dicks about it so I guess I should be thankful I don't have to endure those bloody meetings any more.

Hate how the managers at work act whenever I'm off sick. I get a text every day saying 'are you in tomorrow?' If I did shift work or something it would be slightly more understandable but I work in an office. Just let me be ill in peace and I'll make contact to say when I'm coming back; as far as I'm concerned a manager should only be using personal phone numbers in an emergency.
