  • If they fit well, ???? Whatever.

  • Rivet and hide, fitzrovia.

  • and Son of Stag, Shoreditch. Which isn't in your specified region, but is one of the best 2 or 3 shops in London.

  • @Rogan x2 for Clutch. You want it? They got it. Actually nice and helpful unlike SOAS. They've gone downhill big time IMO. All the good staff went to Clutch... FWIW, you pay for what you get.

  • Then I shall have to visit Clutch...

  • The stuff they’re carrying is just fantastic. Some really wonderful stuff - especially shirts and jackets.

I feel kind of sorry for SOAS in a way. Rudy has worked for years and years to get as many niche brands as possible and has introduced loads of them to the UK market. Clutch come over, who already know everyone in Japan - literally - and can start stocking whatever they want. Good for the consumer though, SOAS’s pricing got a bit outrageous and their after sale customer service is dog shit. £40 to repair a hole in the jeans you sold me that cost £250? No thanks.

  • I've posted this before but for those who.missed it...I've stitched a pinch tuck in a pair of Edwin ED39 regular loose. I've got all the comfort of roomy jeans without the baggy bottom!

  • Ooh.
I might replicate that with a pair of cheapo things I've got.

  • Simple really. With the jean leg opened out, fold the inside leg seam over itself for about 6 inches from the bottom. Pin the 'tuck' in place. Roll your turnup, then stitch it in place to make it permanent. In the pic you can see the fold or tuck, the jean turned up and the stitch, in white thread, near the yellow stitched leg seam. Only the stitch is repeated on the outside leg seam, no tuck required.

  • Another one for this place. Absolutely great customer service and that’s despite me trying in half the shop every time I purchase anything

  • Westfield Stratford? Nowhere easily. Shoreditch has quite a few options and soho/carnaby st area

  • Sorry page refresh fail.

I still like the fit of the Albam jeans and pretty good quality.

  • Huit organic denim look decent at a non eye-watering price. Not selvedge but does that actually make much difference apart from hipster kudos?

    Fashion is fashion.

  • Trend is soft worn but not battered denim like California hiker now isn't it?
    Not rigid rockabilly California miner.

  • New Nudie Skinny Lin W34 L34 at Traid on Kingsland.

  • At what price point do people go for crotch repair v. just new jeans?

I have a pair of Naked & Famous that I quite like, nicely faded, but just ripped out the crotch picking some stuff up. Seems it would be $40 here in SF to get it fixed. I think I managed to get the jeans on sale for $100... and I have a spare new pair. Makes it a difficult decision

  • Well, what is the time it took to take them to that point worth?

  • fair point... I'll get them repaired :)

  • It’s always worth getting them repaired - clothes aren’t meant to just be thrown away if they can be repaired - in my opinion. Look at Patagonia’s Worn Wear, as an example :-)

  • I have pair that I sent back for the free repair after 3.5 years of medium wear. So I think good value heading into year 4.

  • repair, reuse, recycle.
I've blown out the crotch of pretty much every pair of jeans I own, and have had them repaired (sometime multiple times) pretty much every time. I'm never really paying full price for jeans, so have no issue with getting them repaired (currently about £15 at @Markyboy recommended place in soho)
