the Novatec 3 in 1 hubs are convertible to 12mm

That is very sad indeed. Good you mentioned this.
I read the Off The Beaten Path post today but I didn't make the Mitch Pryor and MAP Bicycles connection.
Jan Heine made a link for donating to Mitch and Alistair’s campaigns to help other fire victims. -

^ reply to spotter.

Why?
Why would I want that? -
• #6257
Because it's by far the easiest way to tension, and keep in tension, a chain on a singlespeed without horizontal dropouts.
-
• #6258
Why can't I have what I want?
-
• #6259
Just wait for a Wolverine or a Nature Boy to come up for sale, jesus fucking christ.
-
• #6260
Chain tensioners can't be that great in CX, getting stuffed full of grass & mud until they seize up.
Also, they're massively fugly
-
• #6262
I'm totally fucking aware how shit I am.
-
• #6263
Why would I want that?
It work perfectly well with a chain tensioner, thus give you a much broader choice of CX/gravel frameset on the cheap, and especially one with a flat mount brakes.

I ran one for a while, never had any problems with it getting blocked by grass or mud. I'd recommend you run it pushing in to tension, that eliminates any slipping under load.
-
• #6266
They are fugly, but they are a lot less hassle than an EBB.
-
• #6267
A lots lighter too!
-
• #6268
I guess what I'm after is disc brakes, gear hanging option, carbon fork, forward facing horizontal dropouts, horizontal top tube, mudguards and rack.
-
• #6269
Sounds like surly straggler.
-
• #6270
All this is obtainable if you stop hating on the chain tensioner.
-
• #6271
Did someone photoshopped the non drive side drop out off?
(No carbon fork)
-
• #6272
Sell the Surly fork for scrap, then buy a carbon fork with the proceeds?
-
• #6273
I'll buy that fork

Does anyone have a stock Arkose rear wheel they'd be willing to part with? I'm never going to need my SSCX Arkose in SS mode and I've fucked up my road bike which also happens to be my only geared bike, and haven't got the cash to fix it.
EDIT: by 'part with', I mean 'sell', obvs!

Does your Arkose have a freehub? if so, you can put a cassette (removing a handful of sprockets to fit) and run it as a 5 or 6 speed from a 10 speed block.
Chain tensioner is what I'm saying.
