  • That post paired with one of these is scarily light.

  • I have seen this bike in the flesh it is not pretty. But it is light. I now desire a titanium rear triangle.. if anyone has one they want to get rid of let me know..

  • The rear triangle hinge replacement is about £60, the two frame hinges are about £30 so that’s £120 before you even think about paint. For a fade paint job you’d be looking at a minimum of £300 for a decent job. Cheap it ain’t.

  • @Aldersbrook sell yours and buy a 9 Streets instead?

  • £60 for a hinge? £20 parts £20 labour...

  • Get me the bike / parts, I can do any relevant stripping / building.

New powder coat is £80 for all the same colour or a bit more for different. Or you can leave it open for me to decide ;)

    Return post is £10 on a 24hr service. - I’m in Somerset.

Done so many builds, rebuilds etc I can’t count...

Here is one that was a 2006 beaten to crap commuter, now rebuilt as a beautiful hot pink h3 with custom wheels on chrome hubs, black edition and a cute bag I found on eBay! :’)

  • Got three steel ones?! Flame lacquer, black and tempest blue, along with a flame lacquer/tempest blue / black fork, and a black m type stem.

  • Not sure what you are offering? I already have a steel rear triangle. I’m looking for a titanium one to replace it with.
Not looking to make a mix and match @amey special..

  • I’m trying to sell you a flame lacquer steel one regardless of your titanium lust! Then I can buy a ti one myself...

  • Not in London, mate...

  • Been there done that, inflation maybe, but more than £20-25 is too much imo. It’s a 20 minute job, have done in under 10 if all prepared etc.

  • We’re in the North and charge £30 labour.

The job can be relatively quick but it can also be a bit of a pain in the arse if it’s corroded/seized or if you have to file the replacement down to fit (maybe Brompton supply SJS their special different sized washers but we don’t get them)

£40 sounds fair enough in London with rents, rates and cost of living.

  • Aliexpress delivery a week early, happy with these, 4grams lighter than listed too! ;)

  • Purty.

  • That nice looking bike...

  • Stood 15 minutes by a gate in Liverpool St Station... Sooooo many Bromptons!!!

  • £60 for a hinge? £20 parts £20 labour...

£20 is quite cheap for a labour that usually take 30-45 minutes (depending on condition of Brompton).

    It’s a 20 minute job

We are talking about the main hinge right? removing rear wheel, cutting off the hinge as pre instruction from Brompton, removing the brass washer, etc.

  • that pink brompton reminds me of @Jacqui

    hope you're well woman.

  • Yeah, whip off the wheel, chainset, drill a 6mm through each bolt, left hand tap into the bushing and knock out, replace and rebuild. 20mins. I’ll time the next one I do without rushing etc.

  • drill a 6mm

What's the drilling through bolts for? Is this when they're seized?

  • Bromptons recommended removal technique (when the bolts inevitably don’t come out with Allen key) Hacksaw should to be used as a last resort.

  • I honestly think 20 minutes is a bit optimistic, the fastest I can change it is 25 minutes.

  • Ok but @maynardeames explained method suggests it's always the case. I'd hope that now and then you get the bolt out just by unscrewing...
