I think an armoured acrylic crystal is one with a tension ring retaining mechanism - could be that the tension ring is missing?

Brilliant. Glad to hear they sorted you out. Jonathan who runs the shop is a 3rd generation watchmaker, his dad (bless him) now runs the website. That’s why they have such a terrible web presence. But a proper family business. I’ve bought a couple of pieces there including my 176.007.

This is lovely. I'm probably being a dummy but how do you open the back up on those?

Assuming not, but if that’s for sale I’d love to buy it for my wife. Do pm me an offer if it is. Thanks

Where should I look for Dirty Dozen WW2 watches? There’s loads on eBay at various price points, but I don’t really know what I’m doing...
-

Yeah, they really are. Having said that, one of things I like about the Calibre 18 is that it’s a bit smaller. They "vintage" sized it. E.g. it’s about 2mm thinner than the current Autavia.

Reddit.com/u/kabaclyde has, I believe, an omega and a Cyma at the moment.

Oh no sorry, just two Cyma’s. $1400 and $1500. Great seller. Have bought something from him and it was exactly as described. As have many others.

Thanks very much. Will take a look!

Omega Forums has a pretty healthy For Sale section, in fact there’s a guy drip selling a complete set of Dirty Dozen watches. I’d advise setting up a profile and contributing a bit first though.

Read about them and study every minute detail of what each part looks like.
And then decide which model you want. They all differ. Record and Vertex are best value still, but the cases can suffer wear, and refinishing is a no-no.

Thanks all!

Those are some of the limited editions that are going into Japanese fashion boutiques.
Silver: SBJG001
Black: SBJG003
Gold: SBJG006Silver and black ones are 3000 pieces each, the gold one is 500 pieces. There are others too, with different text colours and some with reversed LCDs like the gold one there. I'll see if I can find a link.
They were really nice. Sorted it out quickly and didn't charge me.
Interestingly they weren't sure the acrylic was correct - he mentioned an amoured(?) glass. And that could be why previously the minute hand has caught.
Either way top notch service and confidence inspiring.
