  • Here you go:

I hereby absolve myself of all responsibility for anything, ever...

  • Ok, let's see where this goes.
    : ]

In other news I was further searching for old folders / 20'' "mini-bikes" around Berlin, and it's just unbelievable - people asking €150 for rusty old bikes that seem to be nothing special really.
Will see what buying from the UK including shipping might get me..

  • ..not much feedback so far - maybe should post it in the Cargo Bikes Thread as well

    : ]

  • Oh well. I thought it'd be a bit marmite! Would ride, though I fear it'd be a bit small.

  • ..still crawling through the classifieds, thought this was a funny one - apparently from the Netherlands originally:

    €165,- though, lol.

  • It’s been said already but a Dawes kingpin is the best of these by far. Keep an eye out for one in good condition and you won’t go wrong

  • Thank you for the feedback - I'm Berlin based though and haven't been able to find one of those here yet..

  • Found this though -
looks like this might ride a bit flexy as well but gotta say I love the look of those frames.

  • Fork looks kinked though
    : /

  • Just consider how strong the £££ is at the moment, you could buy one here and have it hand-delivered for less than the equivalent value a year or two ago.

  • Yea I was indeed looking at UK eBay as well, alas it does not make sense with the shipping cost, especially not with a non-folding Kingpin, haha.
They indeed look nice though and I can only imagine them riding really quite well..

  • How much is shipping?

  • ..not sure, the ones currently listed all don't even have an option for shipping to Germany.

Well in a nutshell it might be cheaper to fly over with easyjet!

  • ..ha, pretty cool!

Though think I might prefer to just buy one over here when I find one I like in good condition for an ok price (like the one posted above - trying to arrange a test drive to see if it handles as wonky as it looks)
    : ]

  • There's also some nice "MIFA" ones, they're usually very rusty by now or have silly prices (€155 for the one below for example)

  • not uk road legal without a front brake

  • Germany tho...

    (probably still illegal)

  • Yea you do need two independent brakes here in Germany as well..

  • Do you by chance have recommendations for knobbly tyres?

Looking at those Schwalbe Black Jacks you have in those pictures,
alternatively Conti Explorers, or (cheap and cheerful) Kenda BMK K-50..

  • .

    ..totally!

  • I expected the black jacks to be shit and to replace them with bmx turescreally quickly but so far they’ve been great. I’ve definitely crunched through some glass on the way to work and they survived.

No idea what sort of price they are but can’t imagine they’re too expensive?

Btw, if I went to bmx tyres I’d go with a slicker streetvtyre, I believe knobbly bmx tyres don’t tend to be very puncture resistant.

  • I'm not really sure I can follow - I thought that knobbly 20'' tyres basically are BMX tyres?

Prices tend to be all over the place but Kenda's are €10,- those Schwalbe Black Jacks are about €17,- (and they are only available in 20'' / 1.90'' - I can use those instead of 20'' / 1.75'', right, as it's both ETRTO 47–406 ??) ..and the Conti's I mentioned are about €12,-

I am actually quite unsure what to get; this is going to be my winter biek, so will be ridden in snow and muddy paths, but in fact the majority will still be asphalt; I live in Berlin after all, not out in the boonies.. just seeing your pictures made me realised how fucking cool knobbly tyres are (my first bike was a BMX : )

  • Also there's these - they are actuall called "Schwalbe Knobbly", though they don't look very knobbly to me -

Don't know, figure they might look cute on a small bike like that, but really not sure that tyre pattern is practical for anything.
