well technically he is a real band in that he has a real album and really plays music, I'm sure his intention was to get people to go to his gigs rather than be an elaborate scam... i feel kind of bad for him that he's been exposed. This could be a bit like that mental cult film in the US 'The Room'

I think this is how he will inevitably try and make things play out... My very first thought when I came across it... Classic Netflix documentary fodder...
