Tempted to cycle over there tomorrow and ask if I can help get stuff posted.
If I was local I would be doing this.
I was almost tempted to ask him if he wanted to post all thevstems needing posted to me and I could then distribute them.

If anyone is looking to offload a stem I’m willing to buy. Not bothered about stack-height, I just want a piece of history.

Could you ask him about mine as well? I'm currently getting no response at all.. If you want some money on top of posting cost I'm willing to do that.

Likewise. No rush for mine as I changed the dimensions very late on.

No probs I'll enquire. If I can pick up @m_v's I will be in touch. @M_V will you mail him to confirm I'll be picking up? I'll pm you my deets, Sam knows me but not well enough to give someone else's kit.
@jaap and @beetletype25 I guess your GPs aren't ready yet, if so I'll enquire and feedback anything Sam says. -

I don't think it would be fair to troll an independent business person like that. And Hulsroy who, after being badgered by people here, thought he might be able to let some people in on a good deal and help promote Stayer a little too.
It's obvious that the whole project was over subscribed and perhaps over ambitious of Sam to commit to it. But from what I can see, everyone who has emailed has received an apology (eventually) and Hulsroy has apologised too, even though I don't really think he should. He's offered a refund to those who aren't happy. Yet still people complain.
Stayer agreed to make them at cost, I.e. practically for free. Given that for the last couple of months it's been clear that he is time-pressed, I'm not sure what spamming him will achieve. If this is causing some people so much anxiety, accept a refund and get on with life?
Ps - I am waiting for a stem too.

Shame this isn't working so well, great idea.
Could someone else step in to make as a a commercial venture ?

Thanks, would be great. No problem if my stem isn't ready, but at this point I have no clue if he got my order or anything like that..
Just a "yes, I will make this stem within 3 months" would be great (or no I didn't your order, or something like that..).

Sam was really rushed as he was heading out and I was there see Judith about wheels but Sam said "everything is cut and ready to put together as soon as he can find the time". I realise this isn't much of an update and is probably a repeat of stuff upthread but I was offering more from a "if it's ready to post and I'm there I'll post it".
The folk at Stayer Cycles are really nice people. -

Um, I actually meant it in a positive way :) It was inspired by what @GwGs wrote
I just want a piece of history.
No trolling involved, quite the opposite tbh. Its funny, cuz i actually recently chatted with @Hulsroy about the whole sticker thing, and i really like how it kinda reinforces the sense of community around an event like this, similar to the DBAD stickers. It's also a kind of nice way to show what you know / have been a part of, and want to be associated with.
And FWIW Sam seems like a legit dude who's just tryin to live the dream, and I've promoted Stayer on my instagram and website as much as i possibly could cuz i dig it. https://stridsland.com/portfolio/the-gas-pipe-stem/
Apart from that, I completely agree with your 2nd and 3rd paragraph, and im almost kinda glad you're still waiting on your stem, because it makes your words even more powerful and the others even more lame. Id been considering writing something along the same lines, but i got my stem a while ago so it probs would have ended in a case of "easy for you to say".
Cant wait for everyone to be happy again (be it due to a refund or receiving their stem), so we can get on with making a sticker to praise The Gas Pipe Stem <3

Nope.

I hope this doesn't come across as rubbing people's faces in it if they are still waiting but I got my stem yesterday and I'm very happy with it. I'm glad the outcome in the end for me was a stem and not a refund. I guess I'm trying to just say, if you are still waiting, hold on, it'll be worth it.

My stem came completely raw, I heated it up with my mapp torch (till at the point I could just hold it) and then applied a liberal coating of linseed oil followed by another torching then a rub over to remove any oil that hadn’t soaked in/burned off.
I’ve used this technique on raw steel parts before and it seems to work pretty well. The part will still corrode but nothing like if it wasn’t treated.
