I just failed that bloody debt collection cougar mission because I ran over a cat in the town...

That's not the cougar silly.
I was down in the south-east in an area I thought I only had to worry about gators if I was near water, nope a panther appeared directly behind me and I only escaped because I had a shotgun equipped and I hit deadeye and shoot in rapid succession (i shit myself and mashed buttons tbh) and shot him as his jaws were inches from my throat. fucked up the pelt though and first panther I've seen.
I heard the legendary buck trinket you can craft gives a perk that pelts remain the original quality even if the kill isn't clean, think that may be next on my list.

Some other RDR2 non-spoilery tips I've found recently:
there's a great cabin just northwest of mount shann worth checking out
if you see any dead body x's appear on the minimap while riding around that you didn't kill, go see what happened.
just realising that to craft properly you need to be regularly making one or two items and keeping your inventory clear to gather more of the required ingredients. stuff like special ammo that requires things like moonshine/animal fat will never accumulate otherwise as you can only carry a few at a time.
if like me you've been wandering around with 20 premium cigarettes at all times and not picking up additional packs you've missed out on a shit ton of cigarette cards as you get one every time you pick up a new pack, instantly discard them all whenever you pick them up so you have space for the next pack you find.
study animals using your binoculars rather than trying to sneak up close enough to them.
there are a bunch of unique melee weapons in the game usually embedded in something around points of interest, if you see an axe or a knife stuck in something try to pick it up.
2am is a good time to revisit some creepy places
if you see a "feral man" up north east, track/chase him.
I can't say for sure but I drank some 'mysterious liquid' and now I think ravens might be stalking me.
If like me you've spent fucking hours traipsing to the trappers on the east side of the map there's one literally spitting distance from riggs station on the west-side which is up on a hillock and you'll miss if you're just riding past. (ride across the huge railway bridge coming from horseshoe overlook camp and he's up on the right on the other side)

Also,
Top right of the map, there's a cabin with a hermit, kill him.
There's a viking burial with a couple of cool items near the top right of the map too.
You can also use a rifle scope to study animals, often easier than swapping to binoculars -

I found a guy hiding in a tree who just told me to get lost, then he disappeared inside the tree ¯\(ツ)/¯

make sure to pick up what he drops as soon as you kill him otherwise you may never get it.
also approach with caution, he can fuck your shit up.

Guys seen the women locked in a loo down by Rhodes?
-
• #20134
hah yeah I saw him. pretty sure when hunting legendaries it says there's too much activity if there are active encounters in the area and he was stopping me from hunting so i went fishing instead.

Also there's a pig farm near Valentine with a very friendly couple.

I did, didn't want to "spoil" anything on here.
Creepy!

Free controller with a 6 month subscription to Retro Gamer (£25, and you can get a few quid off with quidco).
I went with the 8bitdo N30, there are a number of suggestions that it's actually the 8Bitdo N30 Pro but we shall see.

Is she part of any missions?

• #20139
was reading on reddit a thread about how there's a poster in the van horn trading post about a missing royal girl with a reward, some think it could her or it could be the wife no one ever sees at the emerald ranch which gets mentioned a lot in early missions/encounters in that region.

Can we talk about the lack of snake skin boots in rdr2?

• #20142
Just another long/late session with RDR.
Don’t remember a game (single player) that would keep me so excited even after 70h of playtime.
Been exploring whole evening, finding more creepy/interesting stuff.
There’s so much I want to talk about, but absolutely 100% want to avoid any spoilers and play it my way :(

Could start a thread?
-
• #20144
Was going to post before red dead came out if there was a need for seperate game threads so those who are being cheap (me) and don’t get it on release date can avoid all the chatter/spoilers/excitement.
But it is fun/enlightening to read people’s impressions of new games, and you know after a couple of weeks the chatter will die down, seen it with whichever game is flavour of the month, over the last couple of years.
An option could be to just do a dm discussion which you can invite as many as are interested to, if you guys wanted to get into the deep dive on it..

Yeah, multiple threads would be a pain - how else would you all find out about my pubg adventures?

What's the most time people have logged into games? Just a quick run through on my Steam library shows most games between 5 mins and 5 hours with a dozen or so games at 40-90 hours (Far Cry/Bioshock/Fallout etc). A handful of games at 100-175 hours (MGSV/GTA IV/GTA V/Kingdom Come: Deliverance/Stardew Valley) Then a few outliers:
Witcher 3: 210 hours
Skyrim: 240 hours
Mount & Blade: 350 hours
PUBG: 1110 hoursI guess that's just Steam so there's also Origin/UbiPlayer (BF3/4/1 and The Division probably has 200+ each)
I'd imagine that's probably over year of my life spent playing games (especially factoring in the days before Steam - I had tons of time logged in LOTRO for example). I do enjoy playing but that's quite a figure.

DIII ~ 520 hours
I probably have twice that in DII but that was before anybody tracked that. -
• #20148
My Steam profile is fake news because it only started counting around 2009, I reckon I've put 5000+ hours into CS:S
-
• #20149
5000 hours, fucking hell. Never played any CS games - prob for the best...
-
• #20150
Thank god for that.
Mine would be through the roof.
I keep shooting people's hats off. I hope there's a trophy for it at some point, I want recognition of my skills.
