BBC response to Arron Banks complaints
Hello,
Thanks for contacting us regarding Arron Banks’s scheduled appearance on The Andrew Marr Show on November 4th.
There is strong public interest in an interview with Arron Banks about allegations of funding irregularities in relation to Leave.Eu and the 2016 EU Referendum. The Electoral Commission has laid out concerns about this in public and it is legitimate and editorially justified for Andrew Marr to question Mr Banks robustly about them, which he will do on Sunday morning.

So yeah, erm, let's interview him so we find out the truth ...

Some businessman who has loomed large in my life ever since then. Who has called me hysterical, insane, a lunatic, a mad woman, a conspirator, a loony, a mad cat lady, a nasty piece of work, a criminal, a bully, a mad cat lady, a loony, a tinfoil hat nutter, a hacker, a mad cat lady, a loony, a bitter Remoaner, a lone conspiracy theorist, an enemy of the people.

The chances of him claiming that this interview jeopardises the chances he has of a fair trial are very high, the BBC are basically giving him the platform he craves. Much the same as they did with Tommy Robinson.
Their determination to be 'balanced' needs reviewing in light of the rise of the far right. No-one should be giving fascists a platform.

At least the lack of available medical assistance will make suicide so much easier to succeed at.

.
.Oh fuck, I wrote that as a joke and then realised that it is not in the least funny and will probably accurately reflect the suffering and trauma this shit show will cause.

So effectively the net result of this fine amounts to another £135k of campaign funding (albeit paid back into govt coffers), unless the result is voided and/or he and his cronies are jailed for a significant amount of time.
Our election-rigging laws are so f*cking inadequate it's frightening.
-
• #14436
yeah, it seams to amount to, do whatever you want and pay the small fine.

I mean, thats what 90% of our laws are whenever they target corporations / rich people

It appears that in the event of a no deal Brexit, the UK government will be able to issue up to a maximum of 1,224 permits to allow UK registered HGVs to operate in the EU.
That's not a lot of lorries. I'm starting to think that maybe 6 weeks' food reserves aren't going to be enough.

About 30 years ago before the Single European Market was set up British lorries needed permits for some of the EU countries they went into. There were never enough of these permits, in part due to the Thatcher policy of minimum engagement. The solution was for everyone to run on forged permits, or with help from French customs officers you could use a single permit many times for a small consideration. British drivers would stock up with duty free cigarettes and half bottles of whisky to aid the crossing of borders along the way. We were very popular with the customs officers in other countries.

I wonder whether that would work nowadays. Just-in-time whiskey bribes to make sure those just-in-time deliveries can go ahead?
-
• #14441
Well, that's all the EU's loss if our lorries can't carry as much of our excellent food to Europe any more.
-
• #14442
You never know, it might be Charlie bribes today.

I'm not sure it's something that Nissan would be happy with basing their manufacturing on.
They alone must have more than four trucks a day unloading into Sunderland... That'd be the entire UK annual allowance
-
• #14444
That's not really an issue, we just give European lorry firms carte blanche to operate over here. It'll obviously kill the UK lorry industry but that's one just one of those things.
-
• #14445
Yep, more of that taking control stuff then!

I thought this was a good summary:

HO really not doing a good job of the "you can trust us". They said only serious criminal offenses would be a blocker to getting settled status BUT now they sneaked in something that anybody denied EU PR can also be denied settled status.
Which is quite shitty because some people like students got denied PR as they didn't have additional health insurance, same with stay at home parents/carers and 12% of people so far have not gotted settled status in the initial trials.

Oh good, now I'm reassured. Nothing bad will happen.
Ich kann gar nicht so viel fressen, wie ich kotzen möchte.
Very droll.
Imagine the cocktail receptions with Heatherwick for a bridge to the US?
