Boast post:
I have just been asked to get involved with some work at the Aston Martin Special Projects building - hot piss!
need to sign an NDA, but i can't wait to see a valkyrie up close. there was one in there yesterday and two vulcans. and another room we aren't even allowed in.
i have a bit of a robo-chub

NOPE.
Just replacing it with another TD04 for the time being.

Nice - my brother runs part of the team there.

it's an amazing place
in other news, it looks like the HSCC might be changing the rules to allow fia spec cars race in certain classes (including ours). aces. i like to think it was down to me protesting.
it means we don't need webers and SUs, single legger and an lsd, two dizzies, etc.
we will have to run dunlop tyres though, which is a bit scary and means the yokos we have will be for track day use only.
means we can drop 90kg from the car, too, rather than adding weight

Yeah - he's a pig in shit there. I reckon he'd do the job for free if they asked.

That is extremely cool (the Aston chub and the HSCC regs.)
What's up with the Dunlops? I know bugger all about car tyres but I've had nothing but good experiences with Dunlop 2 wheeled racing products.

Scope creep: why not move the intake ports up?

Flash makes everything seem an odd colour- I’d have sworn that the ashtray replacement cubby was grey. Anyway, handbrake and shift boot now match the steering wheel.

It was plain metallic black... those dots are way more visible than they look. And they cover the windscreen and wipers are now ineffective (because they don't have constant contact).
It's nuts.
Some of the cars are low value, with the specks being so small so who cares. But for myself and the owner of a BMW 5 series where both cars are ~3 months old... we both parked closer to the building and both insurance companies are writing off both cars.
The car is otherwise perfect. If you wish to spend the time and effort on the glass areas then it's perfectly driveable and fine... the exterior now looks a mess (the fine spray rather than the specks make the whole thing look like it's dirty too).
It's a £60k car, the top spec'd S90 Inscription Pro T8 (plugin electric). And it will be on copart.com in a month or so.

Replace the glass and call it a limited edition. :)

You pay premium fo that shit on NJS Export.

Amazing that somehow it made sense to write off. I would have thought 10-15k would have paid for a better than new respray and any parts that need replacing.
Glad you got it sorted though!

Maybe that would compromise the perforation guarantee or similar? Does seem odd to write off a brand new car for paint and glass.

With indestructible 25-yr paint

Battery will only last 8 or so

Agreed.
I thought that a full respray, new glass, sensors, trims and alloys would have been cheaper.
Still expensive... but cheaper than a write-off.
Insurance disagreed, and for me the difference does not exist... the car is new, it needs to be returned to how it was 10 days ago, and however it was done was not something I cared too deeply about once I knew it was hitting my excess and was an actual insurance claim.

It has a petrol engine that will last longer :)

I think you're better off with a replacement. You can guarantee that a respray will not be done to the ideal standard and the future value of the car will be ruined.
But as a project for someone to buy cheap at auction and DIY repair your old Jackson Pollock s90 would be great.

Is that a Volvo by @hoops edition? Bang tidy...

Historic L/M section tyres. Apparently very tricky to drive well, when compared to modern semi-slick track tyres. They need s very different set up.

New Binky episode tonight and an extra machining video just around the corner. Maybe they'll have paint on it before Christmas
