take ages to get home
Poor excuse, that has never stopped Liverpool fans attending home games.

Non League football on a Saturday.
Who would be interested? -

As would I. Love to see that cunt at United and see him getting kicked about week-in-week-out.

exactly what I was thinking Hazard looks to be enjoying life at the bridge...the only worry is Barca come knocking !
on a side note so happy to see RLC, Morata and Barkley get a goal on Sun. Barkley put in a good solid performance I hope he and RLC can keep progressing. Sari really has brought a freshness to the style of play. I'd like to think that this has carried through the club..@WornCleat what's the general consensus in the stands as an arm chair plastic I'm feeling quite good. just need a striker or for Morata to come good.

Went to Wembley last night, house guests had got tickets. I don't think I'd be up for Monday nights there even if it was Chelsea. I'd pick up a Chelsea season ticket if they came up with stadium expansion (which they won't even if it happens, which it probably won't). It's one thing to walk 10 minutes to and from the ground on a Monday night but Wembley is 10 minutes walk to the station and that's if you beat the main part of the crowd.
The atmosphere was flat because the stadium's huge. Spurs didn't lay a glove on City and City didn't seem to be bothered once they had a goal. It was no showcase of talent.
I know Jaw is having a sly dig but I couldn't see Chelsea getting much bigger crowds there or generating a big atmosphere.
Felt very weird being around so many Spurs fans, what a hopeless bunch. Halftime they were reliving the past glories of Glen Hoddle, the '91 FA cup win. Clinging on to ancient history, sad to witness.

and take ages to get home..
Three hours each way for me.
Lame excuse. -
• #147310
Pah, four and a half hours each way for me. (Which may be why I've only been to four home games so far this season.)
-
• #147311
I can't help but imagine him enjoying every fucking minute of someone trying to boot him around the pitch.

So my house guests have just been for the Chelsea tour and apparently the information they are giving out is that the stadium build is still going ahead. So maybe I'll be surprised.
-
• #147313
Oh he would! If he lined up against Liverpool, they'd be down to 8 men by half-time.
And 2 more off injured. This grateful nation needs a statue of Sergio Ramos.

@cornelius_blackfoot - will Spurs be able to fill the new stadium on a regular basis? <57k attendance against Man City could indicate that it might be more straightforward to get tickets?
At least the fans will be used to seeing 30,000 empty seats before they move into the new ground.

For deliberately dislocating someones shoulder in a CL final? Yeah thats a real achievement. Hopefully someone will fuck him up for good one day.

Half dig, half genuine observation.
The Wembley accessibility thing is an excuse I’m not buying. It’s not exactly easy to get to and from WHL either. I’d understand you’d struggle to fill Wembley on a Monday night against Bournemouth or Cardiff but not against the defending champions and arguably the best PL team in a generation or so.Tell me the last time there was a decent atmosphere at that ground? I certainly don’t recall it.

defiantly for every boot there would be a calculated response and you know what the crowd would love it. please jose get Ramos even if you just play him for the away game at Liverpool.

It depends on where you’re coming from also, there’s the routine and the habit of going to WHL, that makes it less of a ball ache because you’ve been doing it for the lifetime of your support. Rather than the season and a bit at Wembley, and also to be clear there is fuck all in and around Wembley to make it worth your while blocking up and waiting for the exodus to calm down..
Re: why no sellout for Man City, who the fuck knows. Are man city a glamour club? Is there enough of a rivalry to get fans out to support because “we’d love it, if we could beat them!”
‘Twas a sellout for Barca, and the atmosphere was atmospheric whenever the possibility of spurs getting something out of the game was dangled in front of us.Looking forward to asking the same questions of chelsea’s support when you spend your time in Wembley waiting for Stamford bridge to be rebuilt..

Next door neighbour has a season ticket, he’s missed quite a few games this year because of the time it takes getting to and from Wembley. I’m guessing for the NE London and Essex crowd it’s quite a trek getting across vs, a train to Tottenham Hale/7sisters and a short walk.

Good article on how Bilbao manages to survive in la liga season after season whilst only fielding players from the region..

I've missed none so far...

I think the travel is a big factor. Chelsea are planning to be there 2 years will probably end up being 3. Will you or I get a season ticket for those years as they’ll probably be available? I know I’d Give some Monday night games a miss even if I did have a season ticket. The quality of the football clearly has a part to play though.
Not much anyone can do about the atmosphere, it’s a typical modern, multipurpose stadium that does everything well but nothing really well. Probably what Spurs and then Chelsea will end up with!

heehee. sweet little double dig

The Spurs game last night was due to take place on Sunday. It was switched with fairly short notice as the new stadium was not ready and an American Rugby game was booked for Wembley for the Sunday.
The late switch and the move to a Monday night would have caused considerable inconvenience. Spurs fans travel further to games than supporters of any other club. Mid week matches create problems for people who have to get home to Hertfordshire or wherever.

I went to watch Crewe this evening (c30 minutes travel time), as I'm visiting my parents and my dad vetoed Chester.
They played nice football, and have some talented young academy players, as usual, but still lost 3-0. Mansfield's average age was probably about two years higher, and they seemed about two years more experienced.
It was great to see a fourth-tier game played between two footballing sides. The game as a whole was very short on hoofs, and there was some very good passing and movement from both teams.
ALL OF THIS.
Especially Ramos.
He'd fit right in.
