Almost certainly a new tube. I doubt the metal is thick enough there to take a weld. 2 other things to consider;
- If that tube broke, what’s the state of the rest of the frame?
- Repair and repaint may cost more than the frame is worth.

Had Vaz put a new downtube in a frame I crashed. Speedy and well priced - 24 hour turn around pretty much (think I got lucky somehow) and think he charged £90. The frame was originally 531 and the replacement tube was 631.

Hi,
Disastor stuck and my frame beloved Samson frame broke while I was riding it last week.

A few questions..
People I have spoken to so far have told me that the down tube will need to be replaced - not just the break welded. Is this right (makes sense but I would really like to keep the tube)?
Does anyone have any recommedations for where I could get this fixed in London? And have any guidence on what the cost is likely to be?
I have been using this frame on my everyday bike for the last few years, but it was in perfect condition when I brought and I'm suprised that it has broken. Are there usual causes breaks such as this?
Cheers
