Does anyone own a Canyon?

  • So clean and quickly serviced the old gal before I take her to San Fran this week, I'll probably need to remember to charge the di2 and replace the front brake pads as they're looking rather thin lately. Still very dialled in and still running smoothly even after all these months of not riding the roadie, also posted this on the light thread, but very happy with the minor upgrade for the neater integrated light mount for the garmin as it's looks more aero. San Fran here I come:

  • Just finished an extremely annoying and disappointing exchange with Canyon where:

    • I ordered a bike and waited a month past the scheduled ship date with no contact to say why, it was delayed, the only response was on live chat to say "they were doing a stock check and couldn't possibly send out bikes during this time"
    • after repeated follow ups they finally said there was an internal issue with PayPal which had delayed my order by a few days and I had to pay by bank transfer
    • I paid my money and the ship date slipped another 10 day, in which time I'd messed my bike fitter and LBS around yet again
    • I got a new set of reminders to pay with a different order number,
    • then I got a separate set of emails saying my order was cancelled and the bike out of stock.

All the time Canyon UK were repeatedly unresponsive unless it was asking me to pay them money.

I've owned two Canyon bikes in the past, loved them to bits but as a company the service is laughable. And because I used a bank transfer, I can't even ask my credit card provider to demand the money back.

TL;dr Canyon are a complete joke.

  • Canyon are a complete joke

    Doesn't everyone know this though?

  • It's good to reinforce the message sometimes.

  • What at you getting?

  • I'm now not getting a Speedmax.

  • I would still by an Aeroad SL

  • New hoops for my Endurace courtesy of Noble wheels in Wandsworth.

  • Nice, what’s the spec and damage?
Thinking of getting some deeper wheels for my ultimate

  • Hope RS4 hubs on their own 56mm rims. Spec and profile of the rims is very similar to the new super wide Enve ones. Min tyre size is 28mm.

I work in the unit above them so got a little discount but pricing isn't far off Hunt but for better spec. Their Instagram feed is worth a follow...

  • Contemplating a new carbon road bike with all the mod cons (Di2, discs, aero #gainz (possibly another Canyon) but I love my 2011 Ultimate so much I’m struggling to see if how a more up-to-date bike can really be that much better.

  • Sort of do actually want.

  • I like aluminium as a material but those welds...

  • Yeah pretty agricultural.
Looks a bit like chewing gum painted over

  • Probably no gainz whatsoever, but the new Ultimate SLX in Blue Fade would be my choice

  • It’s a shame I’m nowhere near cool enough for 5th Floor

  • Really want on of these. Geometry puts me off though, Why not state conventional stack and reach, I'm bang between sizes.

  • I’m sure their excellent customer service will see you right with post delivery swap of stem and bars...

  • They state the normal stack/reach but reach looks quite low/long for that kind of bike.

  • That’s what I’m getting at. Reach can not be that surely.

  • No mudguard mounts, and about 15mm too much reach in every size, bit odd - supplied with stems about 20mm shorter than their road stuff.

  • it has mudguard mounts?
