  • Sorry to hear Mrs m has had a bad week.
Family harmony is more important than a frivolous bike ride.
It may even be run again, maybe late Spring.

  • I'm not ruling it out, but just setting some expectations.

I like the sound of a triptych, but am wondering what I have done to deserve the honour?

  • Few additions to first post.

  • This looks absolutely excellent - gutted I can't join in and pop the old "meeting internet people IRL" cherry too - its my neck o the woods n all. max kudos to @mespilus for the organising - looking forward to photos. Have a good one

  • The links to the photo albums towards the bottom of the 1st post will show you the landmarks & scenery.

  • @skydancer @mespilus @Backstop @moorhen @ian(conker) @mashton @omash27 @ffm @mulv @tonyme

We've chosen what may well be the coldest day of October!
    Gloves & windproof outerlayers people.

  • Yep saw them - magic - made me think of Ian Sinclair’s writing on urban hinterlands

  • @Shepp_O
    As mentioned above,
    it may well run again,
possibly the first Saturday after the clocks change next Spring.

  • Cool, I'll see you at the platform for the 9:49. I'll be the guy with the bike... Looking forward to this!

  • Ratherchillypeoples, wrap up warm

  • Yep, here in Ruislip, some 8/9 miles south of Watford, we have the first frost of the year, admittedly only on car rooves.
    Protect those knees & knuckles!
Pretty clear skies, so we will have some early sunshine.

  • @mulv we're at the front.

  • Ok. Just managed to get on last minute. See you in Watford...

  • All assembled at Gokula!

  • Great ride. Thank you @mespilus!

  • Thank you for coming along.

  • That looks most excellent.

Please re run this in the Spring!

  • And home!
(Inadvertant pro tip; organise the ride so the endpoint is near home).

    Good points
    No-one left behind
    No-one overheated
    No blinding horizontal sunshine
    Good company
    Timings almost spot on.
Lunch at Cafe in the Park
    Sauna-like conditions at Fran's Tearoom
    Bad points
Self-entitled f-witted jparked motorist as we left the towpath
Some dullard left the commemorative stickers at home!

  • Amazing day. Thanks @mespilus

  • Everybody home safely?
Anyone experience any of the forecast rain?

  • Some rat kids on the tube looking for trouble grabbing people's bags. One asked if he could have my hat, reached for it.

I hold onto my hat and say nope.

Him (4ft nothing): Don't touch me or I'll throw you off the train...

Not a lot happened after that and they got off at next stop...

  • Yeah, got home safe. Rode back with @ffm and @tonyme. Didn't get rained on, but ended up having to ride through the Thames, which had burst its banks... Nice meeting everyone, thanks again for the great ride.

  • Yes a top day, at home guzzling mArmite drink to warm up, blitzed it back around the canal to Brentford then the Thames to Putney with @ffm and @mulv and on to Lewisham and Eltham,,pleased I ate a burger at the coffee stop,,,, nice laughs were had one and all, thank you

  • Cracking day! Thanks to @mespilus for the flawless organisation. Good company, lots of interesting points along the way, tasty food (cake to begin with and a good lunch), wildlife, and open spaces. Plus an educational moment finding out what a Skûtsje is.
