Thanks for all the camera advice... I bought it as a student with many weeks of baked beans on toast resulting from the purchase, so feel I owe it another go. Shooting landscapes in Iceland in January are some of my favourite photography memories so I know how much fun it can be.
Think I maybe just need to accept this is how I personally use the camera, plus I have 35mm SLRs in the drawer, albeit they're a bit bigger than a rangefinder.

What focusing screen do you have on it? If it's standard then an upgraded one (acute matte or acute matte d) makes a big difference to the ease of focusing.

I upgraded to a split focusing screen which does help but still find it's not the easiest thing to get pin sharp.

There you go, sounds like you're all set.
I'd probably experiment with the Hassie also - put some Tri-X in it and do some hand held shots around town for instance ? Do sunny 16 (and push the film if necessary to keep hand held), just for a different experience with it and to try to loosen up shooting with it ?

Having a weird thing. Can’t tell if I’m going crazy. Lens on camera, turn aperture ring, doesn’t look like blades do anything. Take Lens off, look through back of lens, turn aperture ring, blades do what they’re supposed to. Is some type of light refraction sending me loopy?

Lens engaged on body will stay open until you press shutter, to keep viewfinder bright.
Off the body then it doesn't need to, so can close -

Ah, thank you. On my old K1000 it used to open and close when on body. Makes sense. Thanks @tootalltim :-)

Keeping me eye on West Yorkshire Cameras, Harrison Cameras, LCE and Ffordes for either a Canon EOS 3 or 30 or a Nikon F100. Anywhere else worth a look ?

Had a couple of rolls back from being scanned, can't help but find myself so much more excited / motivated shooting film than digital. Hopefully not just a flash in the pan..

Not that I am aware of. In all seriousness, moving to the U.S. has opened up a huge array of camera shops and auctions unavailable to those in the UK. If anyone sees anything on B&H, Adorama or ebay.com/wherever else. I'd be more than happy to act as a parcel forwarder. Mad bargains to be had everywhere vs the UK. Even with the shitty exchange rate.

Got another contax T2 today from some old guy who last used it 5 years ago. Hopefully this one last a long time. Bloody hipster tax is ridiculous on these now.

Also, you can add "totally weird as fuck redeye correction" to the list of things filmdev do :-/
I love the results but a lot of the images have been sharpened so much I could shave with them and now this monstrosity:

Fuck YES
I’d recommend trying the M6. If you already know you like rangefinders ... then you’ll probably love it.
