  • I think they’re 30 internal. Maybe fine then?

  • Yeah, the sidewalls might be slightly exposed to getting cut, but the tyre profile will be decent :-)

  • Yeah 30mm internal will be fine. Thought they were 35.

  • I had to look it up, couldn’t see any specs on the superstar site

  • thought you were buying my hope wheels?

  • Haha yes well that’d be nice but you said in the spring and they won’t be £135 will they :)
I’d still be interested for the gravel bike

  • true, I was thinking £200-ish in dec/jan. let me know

  • Minor modification, Marin lock-on grips and a flipped stem. Feels much better already.

Did a few laps of the longest route through the park, on the southeast side it turns steep and narrow, with real life dangers like concrete poking out the ground (former landfill site). Just about sussed my left from my right to loop and add the extra alternative mini-loops on that s/e side.

  • So... I had previously mentioned that as well as the dungeon, there was the basement.

This area is also off-limits, but every few months they run a ‘stripped club’ on a Saturday (10-4) where members of the public can dig through and get some parts at bargain prices.

We’re talking cheaper than Sclater Street and none of the heat.

There is another one coming up shortly, in November. I will make a ‘meets’ post about it. Swindon is not much to look at, but depending on the crowd, and the weather, there are a number of potential off-road routes for a mini ride as well.

If anyone wanted to come to Swindon any other day, Wed-Sat 10-4 is the shop timing, and I can twist the boss’s arm to allow access otherwise reserved for...well...me.

  • Is that 1" ahead? Headset looks mighty strange!

  • Yea, 1” or 1 1/8” anyway. The bottom is some kind of lock-on retainer spacer thing. Below it the other bearing cover seems to be rubberised. Weird, but functional.

  • This horde is dangerous. How many forumers are you going to bankrupt with these posts?

  • It’s seriously low cost. Some stuff is name-your-price, and some is make-a-donation, only the really nice stuff will have some kinda guide. Ideally you get out what you want, compare the current ebay price for similar, and then make an offer somewhat below it.

For example, those Marin grips in new condition cost me £2. I won’t tell you how much I’ve spent on other stuff....

  • Haha, yeah, we have a similar place near me. I constantly buy new parts because "they're £1 handlebars, why not?" - but it quickly adds up... I am thinking of volunteering with them so that I can sneak my way into their warehouse/storage bit

  • Don’t... it becomes more slippery than slope once you do that. Case in point? See above posts from me.

  • Potential dibs on the black marzocchi bomber in pic one, on the right, near the Michelin sign......

  • Considering ebay prices you could get the train here and still be quids in.

By the way, I only occasionally help out in the shop. It’s a social enterprise, I don’t make any money from them and they run on volunteers and donated stock (mostly). I can take photos and ask questions as/when I pop in, but you guys gotta do the legwork. There is some great stuff hidden away if you know what to look for ;)

  • That looks suspiciously like my spare room. But without the carpet and with a different road/MTB mix. But very similar.

  • I have an original set of those on my hardtail back in Oz.

  • That's the sort of weird ass shit I'd buy. TAKE MY MONEY.

Except i have no money. Bah.

  • A linkage fork that doesn't look like ass! I suspect it'll do pretty well, especially with DW behind it.

  • I don't even need suspension but how cool would that be on the inbred for commuting haha

  • I don't even need suspension

Give the UK's roads a couple more years.

  • One more winter should do it. This week I haven’t even locked my forks when going on-road.
