  • Don't think convertible is on sale... It's more or less double the short sleeve, so my "buy now and justify because it's on sale" excuse goes out the window

  • Says sale here:

    https://www.sigmasport.co.uk/item/Castelli/Perfetto-Convertible-Jacket/EFPQ?s=1

Tis a fair bit pricier though you are right. Nice in the winter though.

  • The normal short sleeve Gabba + mesh base has been spot on the for dodgy weather at the moment. Wouldn't wear it if the sun was out though, would boil away!

  • Ah thanks, somehow didn't see that... It is pricier than the SS plus arm warmers though, but i guess probably better? A dilemma.

  • The material and performance of the gabba is superior to the nanoflex armwarmers IMO.

  • I find SS and arm warmers preferable. Often take the arm warmers off later into the ride, and they fit better. I never seem to fit long sleeve tops.

  • I bought a convertible gabba in 2015. I'm now thinking about downsizing, from XL to L. Apparently the new convertible gabba is the Perfetto? Can I expect the sizing to be similar?

  • if anyone needs an xxl Gabba - i've got one going. Blue colour, short sleeve, worn about 5 times.

i bought the xxl and xl, intending to send one back. started wearing the xxl and then decided the xl was a better fit.

    £30 collected.

    SOLD

  • I have a feeling that I'm the only person on lufguss who ever thought they might need xxl.

  • Is Perfetto Light jersey plus Perfetto gilet a sensible combo for riding up north this winter or likely to be too hot?

I have a thicker Fiandre jacket for very cold days.

  • Gabba long sleeve coming in handy during my current germany trip. Pretty toasty.

  • is there any reason to avoid the convertible perfetto?

  • Are any of the Gabba copies out there any good?

  • The Rapha one's meant to be alright

  • Have to say it again, because I think it's so amazing:

My long sleeve Gabba really worked a treat here in Germany. Paired it with a Mavic Cosmic Pro Jacket when I had to keep the wind out proper ... comfy down to 0 degs with just a 150 merino baselayer and some dhb long bibs.

  • I've got a well used but ok condition SS Gabba 2 (I think) in black, XL that is too big for me now. Anyone want it for £20 collected from Hackney or posted at cost?

Also, is there a new or better option than the SS Gabba out there? I basically used it with various thickness base layers all winter and have been very happy with it. Will replace it with another unless there is a new magical alternative out there.

  • Sadly dietary choices mean I'm far too small for my 2 x size medium gabba short sleeve jerseys. They've been my go-to jerseys for many a winter ride, just paired with various base layers and sometimes waterproof arm warmers.

I'm about to try to pick up a replacement out of season in the hope of a bargain. Is the gabba still the go-to, or is there anything else good out there? Alternatives from Rapha or Sportful?

  • Has the 'Perfetto' replaced the Gabba?
Sorry, has the perfetto replaced the long sleeved Gabba?

Those that know me will know I only really wear shorts sleeves above 30 degrees.

  • Yes, the Perfetto is the new name for the long sleeved Gabba. They appear to be identical, as I’ve just received a new Perfetto to augment my existing Gabba, there is no discernible difference.

  • I thought that the Perfetto was supposed to be thinner/lighther than the Gabba.

That is interesting - as I am after a replacement for my mk1 LS Gabba

  • It doesn’t feel it, and most of the features are the same, i.e. the fleece strip in each sleeve. There’s a few changes, like how the pockets drain, but when wearing it it feels identical. I’ve not had chance to test ride the new one yet, as it’s been too warm. That’ll change this week.

  • I thought that the Perfetto was supposed to be thinner/lighther than the Gabba.

Me too. But I think that's the Perfetto light?

  • Perfetto long sleeve is the same as the Gabba long sleeve.

The Gabba short sleeve is thicker than the Perfetto short sleeve.

  • seems odd to rename the jersey. gabba has to be one of the strongest brands in cycling
