  • Been once and been trying to go again ever since. It’s good.

  • Posh nandos tho?

  • yeah, whats not to love!

  • Bit further afield, but any recommendations for eating in Barcelona, family Blackfoot is heading there for a long weekend, so we’re probably looking at places the three of us can go, Blackfoot jnr is 5mths.

  • Places in the markets are good. I'd recommend Santa Caterina Market rather than the big one off Las Ramblas, it's a bit quieter for a little one. La Paradeta, fresh seafood place where you choose what you want from the fresh display and they cook it.

Tapeo was good for modern tapas (you'll probably need to book), also Pla restaurant.

If you're looking at going to the Sagrada Familia then I'd book online in advance. It was sold out when we headed there and when we tried to book online it was booked up for the next few days.

  • I'm out for a rare date afternoon/night on Saturday. We're seeing Hamilton in Victoria in the afternoon, then looking for recommendations for somewhere to go for a meal afterwards.

Our last theatre/meal combo involved Barrafina on Adelaide street, which we both absolutely loved, so somewhere tapas-y (or steak-y) would be good - but I'd prefer somewhere that we can book. Doesn't need to be near Victoria necessarily, but along the Victoria line would be helpful. Budget £100-150.

  • I know you can't book at - https://www.hillandszrok.co.uk/ - but since I had it recommended in here I've been slightly obsessed with it. Restaurant is open 6-11pm. Based on anyone's prior Saturday night experience, if we were to arrive at about 7pm, are we likely to definitely be able to get a table at some point?

  • Bar Brutal as recommended by Greg from Lanark Coffee

  • It's not near Victoria, does that matter? I would avoid places you can't book for the sake of a stress free life. Although you could always drop Luca or one of the guys an email?

Sabor, Jolene, Rambla, Bancone, Brat, St Leonards, Rochelle ICA. A few variations of your theme and from diff locations. I'd recommend them all. :)

  • Yeah - H&S was going to be an exception, and is easy for us to get home from afterwards, but not booking is just going to make me anxious all afternoon. Will go eventually.

Thanks for those - will look them up!

  • The other place I forgot about was qualitywines in Farringdon. Spin off from quality chop house - I haven’t been so cant personally sign it off but friends are raving about it

  • ^ went to the place downstairs from the posh nandos you were banging on about last week. Wish we took your advice tbh.

  • Thanks again for your recommendations - my wife had actually tried to get us a table at Sabor. Indeed I hadn't realised that she was looking after the booking and we ended up going to temper: https://temperrestaurant.com/temper-soho/

It was pretty good - the smoked goat, blackened pepper salsa, nduja and the Malbec we ordered were all excellent - and I'd go again, but it wasn't perfect by any means. The 'Beef fat potatoes with Ogleshield', which both Jay Rayner and Grace Dent seemed to be blown away by just tasted rancid to me, and the 'Burrata, lime & jalapeno' was a complete mistake. It was literally just a ball of cold mozarella with lime juice and some very thinly sliced chilli. For £147, I think it was over priced by about £40 - and that was how much the wine was.

I think this was just down to some bad ordering, though - as I said, I would go again. The restaurant itself reminded me a lot of Dukes Brew and Que, which incidentally has re-opened as https://www.beef-and-brew.co.uk/

  • Can anyone recommend an Indian restaurant near King's X? Not Dishoom or anything like that - just a decent high-street balti house.

  • not 'indian' but roti king and pints at euston tap?

  • Is Diwana Bhel Poori House still there?

    It's amazing.
    121-123 Drummond St, London NW1 2HL

  • Best advice ever given on here.

  • Gaylords has a good reputation... not been to the restaurant but they did cater a wedding I attended and it was superb.. one of the oldest Indian restaurants in the country apparently .

    Short walk away tho

  • Go to where wjprince says, if it's still there. Highly recommended but was due for demolition at some point I think.

  • None of the Drummond Street restaurants were demolished.

Ravi kebab is my favoured choice (although no alcohol) as I prefer ones with meat.

  • Thanks for the above recommendations - the meal never happened, but these are on the list for when it does.

In the meantime, where can I get a quick and decent burger tomorrow night in Homerton?

  • Went to the Adam & Eve and really enjoyed it. As rough and ready as I like pubs to be, without being grotty. They've kept a good amount of originality without it feeling contrived. Good mix of folk inside and good atmosphere - gloomy without feeling cold or dark. Aged steak burger - which you could immediately taste was aged, which doesn't seem to be a given - was good value at £13 with homemade fries. They do deals through the week so I could get two for £14 tonight. I will definitely be going back here whenever I can.

  • Laksamania near Tottenham Court Road - new Malaysian place, much tasty. Not China Town cheap but not Kiln expensive either, and worth it.

  • Looks like a hot tip - gonna head there this week

  • Thought you’d be into this 🤙🏻
