Yeah, it's really odd as the disc mount is not only on the unconventional leg, but also on the other side, hence looks like it should be flipped. The canti mounts are correct though.

Thru-axle fork now is why they don't use them anymore. Means you can use dynamo disc hubs too.

Boom, thanks!

Thanks to @svendhöek for pointing out the Omnium CXC in the Orient Express thread (see comments https://www.lfgss.com/comments/13797306/ and https://www.lfgss.com/comments/13797871/.
Time to order up a 62cm with the wider fork!

Denmark is the Orient now?
Like the look of the cxc, will be interesting to see your build.

Update, so I decided not to go with the Omnium CXC (I got pretty darn close). Went with one of these (frame/fork) in the end
Neither steel or single speed, spent so long planning I started thinking gears might be nice.

Frame has arrived, components incoming

Are you going to measure this one before you build it? ;)
Doesn't look like much headtube for such a large bike!

• #60
Too late, it's mine now ;)

Which groupset are you going for?
Have just ordered a c2w voucher to get a cx/gravel/commute bike with apex 1x hrd, quite excited!

Groupset, ha! I'm going with a DA/XT/Trp tag team.
Bring on the gravel adventures! Liz's is making it's way to London this weekend.

Nice, I remember the conversation now, might be wirbt speaking to @eyebrows as he might have a groupset that is close to that description for sale, hopefully find out delivery info for mine today, then out to play in the woods!

What did you go for?

Vitus Energie - ticked all the main boxes, SRAM 1x, Thru bolt, tubeless ready, mudguard mounts

Super nice! How does it ride? Is that a clutch deraileur?
-
• #68
Saddle looks a little high
-

Thanks!
It's like I'm being carried by angels, lots of chubby little angels that protect me from evil potholes.
Unfortunately no clutch, I needed a 9 speed derailleur for the 10s bar end shifter.

Hive mind, help required please!
Have been enjoying the Charge, but have come to the conclusion it's too small (no sh*t, look at that seatpost) for long rides. I've also got a new (to me) best bike in the stable which isn't suitable for wet weather therefore I feel another build (or two) coming on.
I'm thinking of splitting this bike's task into two:
- Winter trainer with ~32mm tyres, guards and optional racks for longer journeys (but would be happy/enjoyable as a commuter
- Fun commuter (details tbc)
I'll eat my greens and sort out the winter trainer first. I have the Charge up for sale, if it doesn't sell I have plans (think nobblies and ss).
After lots of attempts I've found my magic numbers, ~650mm stack, ~390mm reach and ideally a seat tube over of 610mm.
Few options I've found include:
- Surly disc trucker - sizing looks good, but worried it'll be too heavy/truck like for the miles I plan to use it for
- Omnium CXC - bit of an unknown, but it it doesn't work out I could convert it into a SS commuter
- Soma, all other Surlys - too long
- All City - £££
- Bowman, Specialized, Secan and many others - too short seat tube
Any other ideas? Would I be ok on a disc trucker hats other a light(ish) build?
- Winter trainer with ~32mm tyres, guards and optional racks for longer journeys (but would be happy/enjoyable as a commuter

Darwin One By MT in large has almost your excact specs.
665mm stack, 391mm reach.
There's also the Genesis vagabond in size L?
It has 395mm of reach and 627mm of stack.
You could size up to an XL, to get 646mm stack, but then you'd end up with 410mm reach.
If you want something nicer/more expensive you could go for a Bomtrack Beyond 1.

Thanks @MisterMikkel, challenge with those are the sloping top tubes.
That being said, I hadn't looked at any of the frames at The Light Blue, some are close (in particular the Robinson), thanks!
-

I don't think you'll finde many stock sizes that live up to your criteria and have level top tubes.
Personally, I don't really mind a sloping top tube. Especially not if it gets you a bike that fits.
You aren't going to notice it while you ride either.
Re: the CXC, I don't know if you are aware, but it is built with track or track-like geometry with very steep angles, so might not make much of a mile muncher, if that's what you're going for.Marin Four Corners might be another option
Or a Nicasio

Ahh, didn't know that about the CXC, will scrub that from the short list for now, thanks again.

You're welcome.
As you might be able to tell, I've spent some time researching fat tire bikes based on stack and reach measurements - I'm just happy it's of use to someone else.
I have a Vagabond myself but these days I prefer my Intec
And why don't they anymore?
