Have a look for something with a Valjoux 7730/7733, same chrono configuration and very serviceable. I picked this Ollech and Wajs (35mm ish) up for £125, although it’s off for a service next month and that’s gonna bite.
Also just found the original eBay pics, I did take a bit of a punt.

All of my Rolex-related feelings date back to seeing dodgy knock-offs sold in the empty corner at the back of Lucky Plaza off Orchard Road in Singapore in the 1980s to soul-destroyed salarymen.
Really don't get the attraction. They're the watch equivalent of a BMW.

That movement looks hideous. I wouldn’t pay £50 for something like that.
The earlier brown dial chrono pictured was probably a Valjoux 7733. Usually more like £200 - £250 watches in my experience, but dealers sell them for more by tarting them up.

If Rolex is the BMW of watches, what watch does a Seat Ateca align with? Asking for a friend.

..speedbird gmt- anyone any thoughts ?

I have a standard Speedbird III, which is great. Mine is one of the old ones with the sterile dial - I'm not hugely enamoured of the 'Speedbird' logo. I gather the movement used in the GMT can occasionally have the GMT hand go out of sync, but this is a cheap fix for a watchmaker - didn't someone on here have this happen recently?

thanks for the quick response! theres a used one going, but it doesnt look that "pow" factor like the above pic, could be just a terrible pic!

kabaclyde had these for sale for for $750 - worth keeping an eye on his sales posts on reddit

If it helps, I find my Speedbird looks a lot better in the metal than in most photos.

Yep, that was me in the speedbird chat on the previous page.

Not a fan of this at all. Looks like a huge mess. GMT complication is necessarily busy, but this is just badly executed IMO. The stubby GMT hand, the stubby and awful shaped hour hand, the second hand and minute hands are too long, the date window is too small, the end links and bracelet look wrong.
I’m not a designer, but I’d like to hear a designer’s opinion, positive and negative.

The bracelet and end links are a real highlight in terms of quality of finish. I dont like beads of rice bracelets but the ones on the speedbirds are next level if you like that sort of thing.

The stubby hour hand is taken from the original MoD pilot watch spec, and is possibly a matter of taste - I love it. The bracelet and end links are great, and the whole thing is really well made; from people that have owned both, the Speedbird is about 90-95% as good as an IWC flieger, but at 10% of the cost.
The GMT is a bit busy for my tastes, which is why I didn't buy one, but I don't think it's terrible. -

I agree that its busy and the logo is dodgy though.
Its one of the watches that I wished I actually liked the look of, because I know you get so much bang for your buck.

The style of hands is from the original MoD watches, particularly the MK XI
As others have said, in reality the end links and bracelet are great quality, easily up there with something twice the price.
Personally I found the non-GMT version too sterile and like the busier dial, particularly the touch of orange, but I can see why some wouldn't.
-
• #30298
Yeah; without the logo I think I'd have bought it. Still regret not having been able to get one of the original Speedbirds, though.

I don't think it will be too long before the Speedbird 4 is released

If you fancy a bit of a giggle, above is the design that Timefactors are working to for the SB4.
This, is what happened when Timefactors asked their manufacturer to design their interpretation of a modern pilots watch.
Needless to say, it isn't going to be made.
yeah, it looks cheap. Internetz says that they weren't designed to be serviced but instead replaced
