Reported for calendar clonking.

Got a ride report anywhere? Did you ride through or sleep somewhere? I've done his Tan Hill 600 which has 7800m climbing so I've a reasonable idea of what to expect.

This is all too much. I'm zonked!

This past weekend I participated in the Brant and Slap 200 from Windermere. The route was a 3.75 AAA ride, but really could've been 4.0.
Thankfully I took my lighter Ti bike instead of mudguard / dynamo / bag laddened Isen to save a few kg.
Tan Hill, The Stang and Buttertubs took their toll on me. The cold I thought I'd just about recovered from appeared again full strength on Sunday.
Great route and gives me a lot more respect for the Pennine climbs compared to what we have here in Scotland.

I've been back to this one a few times to put the fear up myself a bit. My only strategy at this point is to put a 32 on the back and not rely on getting much over an hour or two's sleep

I know Marcus, we're both in the Willesden. I've probably read that a few years ago when the last Pendle was on (that I couldn't do because I'd got something else on or I'd found out too late about it or similar). I'll give it another look over. I've kind of got my system for long rides nailed down but specific info about routes is useful as I tend to have a happier event when I'm not wandering starving and threatening sheep with a tyre lever, rambling on about kebabs..

No ride report. Got in with 45 minutes to spare. I was planning on riding straight through but the weather was fucking awful. We ended up kipping for about two hours in the upstairs storeroom of a kebab shop in Hexham. Excellent cardboard facilities. I should think the wet cardboard tastes better than their pizza.

Planning to eat a kebab with a tyre lever around the 400km mark, as is the audax way.

This is a thing?! I've always entered them in manually

Ha! I also bailed on my plan to ride Tan Hill through as it tipped it down overnight and I couldn't see the road so I found a small hotel in Hex that would take in my soggy self.
If I've already done 2-3 600s in preceding weeks though I'm unlikely to want to push through so I'll probably do similar to what I did on Flatlands and book a hotel at the halfway point. Proper sleep means I can still drive home and won't ruin me for work and the 600 the week after. Maybe. Bit jealous I didn't find a kebab shop to sleep in! -

So despite making a hash of Blackpool - Glasgow- Blackpool and not getting early qualification for PBP I've just entered the Kingston series 200, 300, 400 and 600.
Given we are expecting our second in November figured it'd be a good idea to get some dates set.Need to think about what I'd like to do in terms of Audax goals....

You can still qualify for early registration with a 200 if you can get it done this month. I think Andy Corless has one at the end of this month.

He's mentioned on da tweeter that he spotted me last month dragging my better half around RP for Revolve training.

Yeah it’s tempting but 7 hour drive and limited return for the effort, is putting me off.

Aww come on, do it first so I can leech all your tips :)
Do you get Mondays off or something? -

Rainbow Kebab in Gravesend is the best kebab shop in the land. They used to do a Turkish Pizza, which was the bollocks, untill I moved away, and then stopped eating meat. The Somerset on the corner just before it always used to do a nice ale too. Oh, and The Goose at the other end of town did an okay Cauliflower and Lentil curry the other day when I pooped down to see my mum. The only dogs chasing you tended to only be out on a Friday night, but the ferry don't run then, so you'll be fine without the rabies shot for this outing.
I do at the minute. Last year was all over the place with my days off. I managed to blag Sun/Mon when I moved shop.

Haha yes. See also: never ridden a 200.

Considering doing the Gently Bentley as my first audax. Be rude not to as it starts just down the road from me.

• #8398
Anyone riding either of the ones from Chalfont St Peter this Saturday?
-
• #8399
We've both entered the Perm. I'll pass your notes on. :)
Looks like we'll head to Slough on the train for an early start Sat morning and then... we're in the hands of the gods...

I still manually enter details in for the ones I'm doing (handy having everything you need in one spot) but when someone else has done a bunch of work that makes my life easier then I'm all over it. It's more for shuffling around tonnes of events that I use it for. Gotta juggle audax, CTT and ultra races.
You'll both be clonked if you don't work out which calendar I'm talking about! :P
