In fairness, I think my ex-wife is alright too.
Obvs, no way as good as a microwave, but that's a high hurdle.
What's going to do your nut, though, is that unless your microwave is a Panasonic (or some models of LG), the the different power settings are just cycles of full power and no power (rather than less power).
I'm ditching our cheapy poppety ping box for a Panasonic with a proper inverter.

It's an LG with an inverter, it's terrific...
My ex is also terrific, or she was until a 'mate' told her I was having a love affair with a colleague and that was the reason I left her... It was a massive fucking lie, she turned against me and he moved in on her a few months later... Terrific... She dumped him a couple of years later...

Ooh my old Panasonic had ‘CHAOS DEFROST’, which is apparently a genuine application of chaos theory to more evenly defrost food.
