Two piece actually. With shims for changing bar angle. SO THERE!

@withered_preacher @croft
Looks pretty undoable with hydraulic lines running through that stem. -
• #44029
You're saying money can't solve this problem?
-
• #44030
What bits follow after the stem other than the seatpost?
Could the rationale for the dual stem be increased stiffness? The cynical capitalist in me wonders if some aero innovations are attempts to differentiate products from rival designers. Cervelo wants potential buyers to think they are better, so they come up with a unique stem. Otherwise the S5 looks like a lot of other aero road bikes by Canyon, Cannondale, etc

Press release says that the split stem is for more aeroz. Various drag figures are quoted. Also supposedly makes for easier cable routing (less aggressive angles). But yeah, of course it's all marketing fluff.

Sheeeit.
I am pretty new to all of this stuff in cycling (two wheels? point bike > go, pretty much was my mental investment in cycling).
As a 40something skater, I took an interest in the slalom scene that grew on the south coast in the ‘00s. It used to puzzle me that guys my age would spend enormous sums on carbon decks, CNC’d trucks &c &c to save a few hundred grams when they themselves were many kilos overweight.Totally accept I am probably missing the point here : )

It will be fine once they fit the matching bar tape

Match what? Just needs some yellow for the full technicolour yawn.

There's some gold there... I honestly don't know who starts to build a bike and thinks "I need every single colour on the bike and it can't be replicated anywhere else on the bike"

I quite like this. But as a kids bike. It'd be ace.

Change the rims and you're into hhsrb.

what shifter is that using? TT shifters or have they done some sort of bizarre rebuild of a normal one
-
• #44048
Just the blips and the junction box thingy.
-
• #44049
I wouldn't spend the amount of money necessary to acquire this, but it does look like it would be fun to ride.

Making it worse
If you could add lift while reducing drag, it would only be worth doing if it was +ve, as that would reduce rolling resistance. -ve lift is useless on a bicycle.
