Has anyone on here got a Kickr Core yet?
-

Probably best.
I made a point of not buying second hand this time. Had too many break and I really wanted no excuses! -

General turbo questions:
- When set up I feel very much as though there is a dead spot when I'm pedalling in terms of resistance from the unit. Could this be indicative of poor setup or just highlighting my below average technique? I'm comparing this to riding on rollers so possibly apples and oranges
- How necessary is a turbo tyre or different wheel? How much tyre eating could one expect just using the normal road setup?

A turbo ate my tyre just before a hill climb.
-
• #1931
it made it lighter surely ?

I also want to know this!
I keep changing my mind on which to get the full version or the core.
The cassette thing is annoying as it's a bit of a hidden cost, also unclear if you need a front wheel thing for it. -
• #1933
I dunno. I swapped the wheel out at the bottom.
For someone I didn't know.
Totes disaster. -

That sounds sub optimal to say the least. I should point out its a 35mm Marathon Supreme so not quite a hill climb tyre

I sold my turbo specific tyre. aintnobodygottimeforthat
I wouldn't use race tyres for more than a warmup but if you're like me and generally roll around on pretty durable tyres anyway then there's not much harm using them on the turbo.

Exactly what I was looking for -thanks! Now just to work out what the fuck is going on with the resistance dead spot thing

Slipping? Increase tension on the tyre?
-
• #1938
Yeah having actually taken some initiative and googled it - it sounds it could be that. Planning on riding outside tomorrow but might try the turbo in the day, pump up the rear and increase the tension on the tyre.

If you can grab the spokes and yank the wheel/tyre around by hand it's probably not tight enough on the roller. You should make sure it's dry and up to decent pressure too. I know some people will also use isopropyl alcohol to clean the tyre surface but I don't bother with that shit.
-
• #1940
Presumably because, like all other alcohol in your flat, you drank it?
-
• #1941
I'll have you know I'm the height of self-control. My 'cellar' has remained unraided for years and all the iso-p is still in the tin. I've not even had a taste.
Can you actually drink it? Asking for a friend..
-
• #1942
I recommend that you buy one, and then let me know how you get on with it ;-)

Is the no quibble return as good as they say??
I might try find out the footprint once folded up as I know where I need to store it.
-
• #1944
I have a V1 Kickr that I like using, although hardly ever use it these days ..
-
• #1945
So the full kickr is 17cm wide once folded up. so a fair bit more compact.
I asked some one at sigma, stats aside in real world terms are there any noticeable differences.
Their response was nope, if they were looking at a smart trainer they'd go for the core.... -

Thru axle....
-
• #1947
yeah, that works
-
• #1948
V1 can take thru axles!?
Stop confusing the matter!! -
• #1949
yes it can

Are refurb units ( like V1 ) available direct from Kickr then?
