Drinks from the devils pump though.

It does that. Most of them down here are run on red...

Get an early Defender. More capable, more practical, more sensible, much easier to fix or get fixed, faster, more fuel efficient, tons of options for upgrading. Much more Tonka toy like
I’ve had mine for 28 years. I’m very biased. -

Why do you always see G wagons on the front on low loader trailers and never defenders?
-
• #44481
Just don't try and drive one for long distances if you value your back?! (I say this as someone who loves defenders!)
-

Ironically one of the reasons I kept mine is because I don’t get back trouble driving it. I have done 600 miles in a day and been fine.
I’ve had a load of other cars in that time and not got on with them due to back issues. ( I have a series of damaged vertebrae ) It’s my ears that suffer! -

You are obviously one of the lucky ones! To be fair I would still prefer a defender over a series 1 Disco, those things make me feel seasick with the amount of roll...

Those are excellent. The cheapest is the best:
I'm sadly not sure a move out of London would be enough to justify one of these though...

I see G wagons and think wanker. Like a defender in SW london x 100000000000.
-
• #44487
I don't understand.
Apart from looking sick, I'm same. Aren't they basically a less comfortable and more basic RR?

In other news I hate trying to buy second hand cars.
Motorbikes seemed to be much more enjoyable.

Yep, this. And I'm trying to sell a VW T4 to find a decent (boring) Touran and sell my flat and find something else suitable.
I just want to pay somebody to spend a day on eBay/gumtree, organising viewings, going for test drives and sorting out the money/admin shit on my behalf. Anybody?

wait for the lambo post...

Any thoughts on what sort of glue to use to stick down a windscreen trim? The black plastic thing that fills the gap around the windscreen has come off on one side.

You are in a lucky minority - I drove mine with a trailer from Sussex to the West coast of Ireland and my back knew about it afterwards! My Girlfriend won't go in it for journeys over half an hour because "it's so uncomfortable!"
However, our '49 series 1 is very comfortable, or at least I find it comfortable. If it wasn't so slow, and deafening, and cold it would be my preferred choice!
Also, unrelated, that Chieftain Range Rover is horrible.
Whoever said Unimog - That is the best option.

Yup, I've had one for 3 years - what do you wanna know?

not comparable sadly
Give me a Daihatsu Fourtrak any day. Goes anywhere, pulls anything, pretty much indestructible. There is a reason why lots of farmers down here still use one.
