  • Hmm, well - I genuinely don't have that option as my screen shot shows. Annoying.

  • Do you have the setting in the camera?

  • which phone? Perhaps not supported in a 6?

  • ^^Yes! Well done, now turned off.

  • if a battery has swollen and pushed the trackpad up, does that mean that there is damage inside?

    not necessarily

  • I have an appointment booked at the apple store to look at my battery.

What's the chances of getting my phone back the same day?

Annoyingly I went to back my phone up last night and itunes can only back up to your main drive. Which in my case is an SSD and not particularly big.
I ended up finding a third party program that would allow me to back up to another drive, £30 odd quid later and I think I've backed my phone up.

  • What's the chances of getting my phone back the same day?

Pretty slim isn't it? I didn't think they did it on-site.

  • Ah balls.

Back to the (social) stone age for me then.

  • Someone on the previous page had theirs replaced same day at the Regent Street store.

I think it just depends on how busy the store is and if they have the batteries in stock.

  • What's wrong with an iCloud backup? Re: batteries, I dropped my phone off at 10 and it was ready to pick up at 1, that was at Covent Garden.

  • iCloud backups won’t back up some password data or authenticator apps like Authy. Encrypted (specifically) iTunes backups preserve all that stuff.

  • I dropped my phone off at 10 and it was ready to pick up at 1, that was at Covent Garden.

That's good. When I looked at getting it done they were pretty conservative in their estimates of how long it would take.

  • Phone is around 70gb. Therefore the backup wouldn't fit on the free icloud one...

I wanted to use the PC one as it seems to be far faster to restore too.

  • Yeah i think they have begun to under promise and over deliver as part of practice.
Friend of mine went to Regents St store tuesday to buy an iPhone 8.
He was told to sit and a colleague would be with him within 15 minutes. His name was called out by said colleague within 2 min.
When he put the order in, they said someone will bring it down within 15 minutes and it came within 3.
He said he got pissed off each time they said 15 minutes but then came away extremely happy within 10 minutes of entering store.
I've not had quite the same rapid response but i've never had to wait as long as they tell me to.

  • Anyone who’s updated iOS from 11 to 12 found that all their colours have gone funny? On an iPhone 8

The taskbar background and app folder backgrounds have turned dark grey rather than the previous light grey.

Live with it or is it possible to change somewhere/known bug? Can’t find much online...

  • Sounds like you’ve got “reduce transparency” turned on in settings > general > accessibility

  • Perfect! Was driving me nuts and couldn’t find anything online. Had tried a bunch of the colour filters under accessibility but didn’t find this one.

Slightly annoying that this happens following an update.

    Thanks :) :)

  • Do I really need to spend £80 on a new MagSafe 2 charger block?

You don't want to mess around with charging, so I'm wary of the aftermarket ones.

  • Apple people, am i missing something:

on the mac store, you can get a mac mini 2.8ghz and then choose to upgrade the processor to 3.0ghz and the total is £1,129

OR you can choose the 2.6ghz option, do the same processor upgrade to 3.0ghz and it comes out at £949.

Doesn't that leave you with the same spec mac at 2 different prices?

  • The 2.8 comes with a fusion drive, the 2.6 comes with a standard drive

  • Battery update - nice and quick, battery was replaced within a couple of hours.

Seems so much better already. Didn't charge all night and its on 65% now.

  • Ahhhhh! Thanks, I totally missed that.

  • You can get a pretty decent SSD for £180 (or have Apple stopped the users from upgrading hard drives now?).

  • Did they charge you or was it warranty?
