  • I've had a curry served in a pineapple, which is just about forgivable, but ratatouille? That's an obscenity. Anyway, we actually got a mushroom wellington with mushroom gravy, which was the best vegan meal I've had at a wedding - much impressed.

@farewell - had a work meal in Hutong at the Shard recently - the vegan stuff was very good, and I think it's the best of the high-rise places for views, as you're looking from S Ldn over across the North.

  • Sounds really nice. The last wedding we went to we (and about 5 other couples) had the meat kebabs which everyone else had as a side compliment to the steak bbq and hog roast - but without the meat on them. So essentially a couple bits of pepper and some courgette. There were only two per person as well which was so much less than the food for the meaters. When we asked if there was anything else / when the main was coming, the chef and staff sorting the food were completely dumbfounded as to why we'd ask for more / not be satisfied and filled with what they gave us:
" I thought you didn't like meat and all you ate was some vegetables?"
"would you be happy just eating that without the meat?"
"Well I don't know, I'm not fussy like that and would just eat the main food"
Obviously didn't want to bring this up with the couple getting married so we just had to go without!

  • Sounds like my experience when eating out in Mallorca these past 2 weeks. Fries & roasted veg got boring fast.
