Track hubs have less, or no, dish, so the NDS spoke tension will be the same or only slight less than the DS. Some hubs don't deal well with high tension radial lacing. Also, crossings are driven by spoke count. John has 28, which will comfortably take 3X on small flange hubs in low depth 700 rims. 2X in that case trades some loss of torsional stiffness for a small gain in axial stiffness, which might be a worthwhile trade on a highly dished road wheel but a bit pointless on a track hub.

One more thing, struggling to find anywhere that will slot the Mavic 520 hub I got, know of anywhere in London that might be able to do it?

I looked at a few local(ish) ones but they didn't advertise it directly. Will enquire!

It's not 1990 any more. The skills don't exist in bike shops, and the liability which comes with modifying components is unattractive to any business operating in a litigious age in which courts directed by nanny states won't uphold waiver contracts between businesses and individual consumers.

How difficult is it to paint ABS plastic and get a hardwearing finish? This would be for a USB stick. Has anyone got experience and a steady hand?

For power tools, go to the New Covent Garden market, it's on every Sunday - v good quality, many are second hand but in excellent condition. I bought a drill worth over £500 new for £60 and it works perfectly.

Google helpfully suggested this video after ordering my Ism attack from that ebay seller.

Mine has now arrived and according to the video and rather unbelievably has at least got the genuine rails and packaging...

But then if you were selling fakes you might also put up a video incorrectly identifying them!

Now I just have to get into my loft so I can go and store this unused saddle...

How did you find them? Did you find one in particular that you liked?

It will make a different noise. Whether it's an improvement is a subjective matter.

Presume there's nothing that can print directly onto it so it would be a case of printing to some sort of 'film' and sticking it on?

You can print on it with direct to media printing. I can recommend Onward Display or, if it's very flash and you have a bigger budget go to Omnicolour
