Also lets not forget Povetkin

Two good fights last night. Bivol continues to impress but Kovalev was beaten by Alvarez in a bit of a shock. He had no answer to Alvarez speed and power and was stopped a few times before the fight ended.

Kovalev is not someone I’ve ever warmed too, I’m quite surprised though. Mind you must be mid thirties now and with two fairly comprehensive defeats to Ward makes you wonder where he goes from here could find himself in the who needs him club.

Tonight should be great. Shame BT haven't offered an option to buy on a web player; it's going to be a stress looking for a stream at 3am.

Predictions?

I fancy the undercard too. Munguia looks like the next big Mexican star. Him v Canelo will be good.

I have no idea. I want GGG to win though.
-
• #1035
GGG by stoppage in later rounds
-
• #1036
I’d like GGG to win by stoppage but I fear it may be the opposite.
The drugs debacle has somewhat put me off getting up at 5 am -
• #1037
I don’t think it will go the distance - I’ve got money on GGG stopping inside 9 rounds.
-
• #1038
Shocking decision. GGG robbed again.
-
• #1039
Think that was GGGs fight - it was close. Alvarez cake forward and looked to go big in the early rounds and maybe that told. Though really I’m struggling how you could watch that fight and say he had won. This was more a draw than the last fight.
-

At least this fight was closer to a draw than the previous one. It’s pretty obvious that if Golovkin wants to win he needs to knock Alvarez out.

HBO, ITV, BBC, Roy Jones all ringside all scored the fight for GGG. I thought he had it by three rounds. I can't see GGG agreeing to another match when he feels like he's won both fights.

Glad I got the extra 2 or so hours of sleep. General concensous seems to be GGG won again. Wonder if he’ll retire.
Puts boxing in a bad place. Before the end of 2019 two main divisions could be unified by drugs cheats. With that and the increasing feeling scorecards are unreliable it really does feel like another nail. -
• #1043
It'll be a shame if GGG retires with those two fights ending the way they did. Boxing not in a great place especially with rumours of Pacquiao vs Mayweather 2 happening.
-
• #1044
I agree entirely
-
• #1045
He said afterwards he would fight again
-
• #1046
Was a really terrific fight though - up at 4am and back in bed at 5:15am. Worth feeling a little sleepy this morning for

To see a drug cheat take a dubious decision?
-
• #1048
Feel like the fight last night was more of a draw than the first one. And the first one was definitely a GGG win they kinda done him over. Canelo used the same tactics GGG used in the first fight and got the W despite landing less in both fights. Hopefully GGG still got it in him to do one more. If not i want to see Danny Jacobs or Jermell charlo get a shot at Canelo.

The outcome wasn't what I hoped but it was a great fight.

Enzo Calzaghe has passed away 69.
As previously mentioned I spent some time at the Newbridge Gym.
I'll be forever thankful for the welcome I was given, warm generous people.
Enzo was very much a larger than life character a very positive person and truly believed anything was possible and had the ability to install that belief in others, even if it was obviously not possible; like his attempt at a football based chart topper. Still makes me laugh typing it now and indeed a little sad that someone with such energy has passed.
yeah, more likely than Wilder making a move.
