Not sure how this counters my point, but no.

counters my point
It does though because there was an implication that you had a vast knowledge of custom bike ordering process
generally with a custom (or anything pricey really) there is some leeway left for future as biomechanics change
-
• #5604
Of course. But there's leeway, and then there's leeway. This appears to be the latter.

They sound like the same thing to me

looks like 2.5cm of spacers .. thats not too much, reach is ever evolving .. even if the person who commissioned it had a fit just before ordering, the fitter might want to make them sit on the bike again and have a look

Just used a Shimano BB seems fine after some pretty thorough abuse over last winter and audaxing this year.

Bikefit - build custom bike - bikefit check - adjust custom bike - then take photos
-
• #5609
Bikefit - build custom bike - take photos in slamdatstem mode (photoshop out excess steerer tube) - win internet points - bikefit check - adjust custom bike - go ride

(photoshop out excess steerer tube)
this is generally what I do
-
• #5611
Pixels tho
-
• #5612
where?
I never rode with that stem and I never cut the steerer, it was jokes irl .. 3cm or something ridic.
-
• #5613
Everyone can see your pixels. They're just too polite to say anything.
-
• #5614
fair
-
• #5615
Besides, all I can see is this
;-)
-
• #5616
That's my favourite part of the picture.
-
• #5617
reach is ever evolving
Stack, surly™?
-
• #5618
reach as in bike-fit not bike-geo
-
• #5619
What I mean is, doesn't the amount of steerer tube have more to do with stack possibilities, rather than reach? Or am I still misunderstanding you and bike fit/geo (probably), even after your comment.
-
• #5620
When you become super flexible because you got yoga classes for free with your custom frame you can reach your toes and therefore can lower the stack.
I guess. -
• #5621
I think in bike fit terms anything to do with bar position (lower or longer) is 'reach' but in bike-geo terms is stack and reach.
-
• #5622
2,5cm? That makes the headtube 7,5cm?
Spacers still look shit. But most of the time tapered or oversized head tubes come in certain sizes that don't always fit the end user. And thus the spacers.
-
• #5623
Or when your gut starts getting in the way because you got pastries for free at work and you can no longer see your toes and therefore can increase the stack.
I guess. -
• #5624
Did you also consider the PX options before ordering this one?
Tempted by their Full Monty SL.
The not yet available Saracen Le Varg also looks cool. -
• #5625
Can't say i did.. Just wanted a cheap gravel biek and the vitus ticked my boxes..
Full steel frame and fork, some rack/fender mounts, stealthy colour without garish decals so it's hideable, wire discbrakes etc..(I actually bought two, one for the GF to, that was another of the boxes, both sizes in stock..)
Maiden voyage. The ride is well, i think the term is confidence inspiring?
have you had a custom frame made recently?
