I prefer to think of sweet spot zones along these lines...

Race times aren't the same as power output though

Is everyone on holiday, or exhausted at the end of a too long season? I've never known this thread to be so quiet for so long.
Anyway, the report on this link does have have a fixed element, but I hope the rest has some interest:

Save for that July 50mi I shouldn't have bothered with, I've not raced since May and there's nothing much of interest for me at the end of season. Is @umop3pisdn or the rest of the Headband Gang going to be doing some hill climbs? Otherwise I think everyone's mostly done for the year.

Boom so true, I’d like to have some more watts to play with though! I’m putting out even less power this year and going faster than last year! No aero testing for me, just two sets of really expensive handlebars! Going sub 21 on h10/2 was my main tt aim for the season and managed it perfectly with 20:59!
Hoping to go sub 20 this weekend but need to actually side on my tt bike before then!

I wonder whether the long hot summer has driven a fair bit of sporting apathy...

He’s Australian too apparently.

Would you like me to recount the tale? A veritable kaleidoscope of good vs. evil, a simple man standing triumphant atop an immense mountain... yada yada

... and slim and well-spoken and a hit with the ladies. Yeah, right.

sporting apathy
Speak for yourself, I've completed 34 time trials this year

I'm entering the Leo 30 in a few weeks, that will be my last TT of the season.
Although I may enter a select few hill climbs for a laugh (cry). -

My mate Pete! Stalwart of the local tt scene and always promotes great events with varied prize categories.
I’ll send him the article.

Thanks - seller switched around the said geometry fwiw.
I still find it useful to think in terms of %FTP even when I’m riding on feel.
100% FTP is my absolute best effort over an hour (or 25mile TT)
110% FTP is a bit harder than that and is my 10mile TT effort.
90% FTP (sweet spot) is a bit easier than 25mile effort, it’s hard but sustainable and is pretty close to 50mile TT effort (or 2hr best effort).
I do have a power meter so I have the advantage of having learned roughly what each of these zones feels like but it’s now only fitted to one bike (TT) so most of my training is done on feel with occasional cross checking with power data.
