  • Silk and steel have a silk or nylon wrap under the outer winding. Tend to be mellower sounding and lower tension. The Tomastik Plectrums I like are similar. But they're bronze and have super nice green rubberised cloth bits on the headstock ends too. It's the little things.

  • I always thought Silk and Steel would've been the strings for me. I don't like bright sounding guitars, I really like the low mid, my favourite type of guitar is one which has had the same strings on it for years and it all sounds muffled and rich. But while the silk and strings did great in reducing the treble, they also felt like they reduced the bottom as well - they were very middly strings. A shame. Why doesn't someone make strings that sound rusty?

  • I've got a 000 shape guitar, which is supposed to be lots of middle - not that I can tell, I got it due to the comfort of the shape over anything else - and the silk and steels match it just lovely.

Wheres the metalocaster from? I like that a lot! Will have to wear a gas mask and hammer out some Legion of Andromeda with it.
