Turkey was never serious about joining the EU, it was never going to relinquish the Death Penalty. Turkey had been negotiating with the original Euro6 since the early '60s. Turkey is happy with 'a' Customs Union agreement signed in 1995.

Oh come on, the point was turkey joining the EU was and is on the cards. BUT there are a few things to settle first, one in the Invasion of Northern Cyprus.
