  • Forehead rest?

  • Mini portable catapult?

  • It's a "Does my nose look fat in this?" mirror.

  • For the heroin addict on the go.

  • Crack spoon. For when you need a little boost up the hills.

Edit: crap, the otter beat me to it

  • I suppose this is a hack/cheapskate bodge? I've always used joes no flats, but as I'm near the end of my bottle and will have some tyre changing duties coming up, I thought I'd try something. I've seen the product 'OKO', which is for tractors and as it's water based, should be able to thin it down at least 2:1, and get about two and a half litres of jollop for £8. It should be similar to the finish line product, which doesn't dry out.

  • It works a treat! So I thinned it down a fair bit more than 2:1 to get what I thought was 'about' the right runniness.... I didn't think it was going to succeed, because when I was sloshing it around, it looked a bit like jelly, and wasn't sticking to the sides of the bottle, so I thought it wouldn't stick to the inside of the tyre either.
I have an old pair of very light XR0's, that are full of holes and little splits than Joe's wouldn't seal. When I put this one in and added the jollop, it was pissing air out of a split about 4mm.... I turned the tyre so the split was at the bottom, and it instantly sealed! It hasn't lost any pressure overnight and seems fine..... I'll know better when I test ride on Tuesday!

    Sounds promising!

But if it's water-based, what makes you think it won't dry out?

If it does prove to be a winner, it would get my vote for Hack of the Year.

  • Has this been resolved yet?

  • Well, yes and no!!
The front has been perfect..... the rear, not so much! I think I need to retape the rim as it's leaking through the spokes, I think. As to drying out, I'm only going off what the blurb on the bottle says.
I'm going to strip these tyres off anyway, retape the rims nicely, as the gorilla tape has slipped a bit, then mount up some different ones. The good thing is that it's cheap, so I can experiment.
They way it seals holes in the tyre is amazing though..... I'll have to film it to show, but you literally turn the hole downwards, and it's INSTANT!

  • Nice. I might try it also. Much more palatable than the bike stuff that costs twice as much. #cheapskate

  • i want to mount a gopro to the front of this rack

There is a dynamo light attached to the small mounting part at the front.

    I have a mount

but it won't clamp any of the rails on the rack. I tried to wrap an old inner tube round part of it to give it a bigger diameter but it didn't really work.

Suggestions? @M_V suggested some tubing attached with some hose clamps and then attach the go pro to that.

  • Why not just get one of the sticky tabs and stick it to the underside of the the flat rails? those 3m tabs are super sticky, If they can old onto the side of a motorbike helmet at 100+mph then it'll surely stay on these?

  • that might work for the gopro but really i'd want it to be easily removable for charging/anti theft etc.

Surely the mount itself wouldn't stick as it isn't a flat surface?

  • This is what I meant, you can get q/r mounts so you just unclip it.

  • it would just be the red bits touching the metal - would these points of contact with the tape be enough? (minus the bolts) I have some gorilla tape double sided stuff, hopefully that'll work...

  • Im saying ditch that and get one of these

If you dont want to spent money on a new mount, I suppose you could drill two holes the same distance apart as the red bits on yours and then just bolt the thing on.

  • oh, where can I get one of those?

  • I have a million mounts that came with the two Apeman cameras I've not used yet.
Maybe one or more will work for you?

  • great, thanks dude.

@hippy if I don't get @spotter's reccomendation working I shall come knocking at your digital door, cheers!

Consider the above tutorial. I would suggest doing what spotter says by mounting underneath but using the above cable tie technique. No residue/ mess and guaranteed not to fail.

I know the 3M stickies are really strong, but mounted underneath with the full gopro's weight pulling on it, security would weigh on my mind.

  • I don't know the width of the flat bits on the rack but would there be enough surface area for the 3M sticky mount to cover fully? Just another thought.

  • i like the added security of a zip tie. Thanks for the video!

  • Strip of metal or plastic/acrylic etc sized to span between the slats and attached to them via zip ties, p clips or whatever with the qr buckle thing stuck to it? Would allow you to use the full area of the adhesive pad which I don’t think sticking directly to the flats would?
