What's the Shimano 105 or even Tiagra of desktop monitors? Just for working from home a couple of times a week so only needs to be basically fucntional (is there a better thread for this?)

Dell / HP

Yeah, if its not for critical viewing (photo work or design) and you are not worried about perfect colour accuracy etc then just pretty much anything will be fine, but Dell are generally decent and reasonably adjustable.

Just found out openreach will take 2-3wks to install Internet.
Is there anyway to do this faster?

Ask a neighbour for access to their wifi in the mean time?

Great thinking!
Is buying a data only sim and using a phone as a router worth it?
Or maybe a dongel? Do they still exist?

I did that while my internet was broken, it works but you want to avoid the memes thread if teenslain has decided to post massive gifs of all the videos the rest of us watched on YouTube over the preceding two weeks

You could get a 4g USB dongle or a 4g router and a pay monthly data sim.

Thanks.
My other half needs to be online ASAP for work.
Mainly emails, but also Skype for business.
Does anyone know a good way to check reception coverage so I can ensure the best speed?
Thanks all! Totally dropped the ball on this one. I just assumed it was a case of remotely reconnecting the line and waiting for a router to be delivered.

your bottle cage will fall off
I'm only removing one, so that is quite unlikely and even if it was, I don't really use bottle cages on this bike. Full framebag bro.
the screw will hit the battery
The battery might end up below the top rivnut so that's non-issue. If it doesn't then I can use shorter bolt. Actually, that might even be a useful way of holding the battery in place without padding - I could shorten the rivnut then use a nylon screw to hold down the battery and stop it moving around.

My new phone account has 30gb limit. Something like that + wifi hotspot with your phone?
-

I just assumed it was a case of remotely reconnecting the line and waiting for a router to be delivered.
It is, that's why it now only takes a few weeks rather than the 6-12 months it used to take to get a phone line installed.

You could also tether your phone to your computer to share the 4G connection from your current mobile phone plan.
-
• #93267
If it were me I'd tether. But I'd like this to be a low stress option so it looks like a dongel is the best short term option.
Anyoyingly finding out reception coverage for 4g by provider seems complicated.
I guess Vodafone or 02 are going to be the best? Both are claiming indoors / outdoors 4g for my postcode.
-
• #93268
Completely anecdotal, but when I had Vodafone for a work phone and my wife had o2, my wife ALWAYS had reception when i didn't.
BTW- in case your wife uses an iPhone and a MacBook, tethering is really straightforward... probably similar on Android too (unless it's running out of data that's the stress). -

Thanks.
Its pretty straightforward with android. I just know what Mrs. H will be like.
Also frustrating, I had the great idea of going with Virgin as the previous occupants had it, but for some reason their account hasn't been closed which shifts it from 4-7 days to 14 ;(
But I'm more confident in getting that time rather than going through a 3rd party to get to open reach.

Iiyama, whatever size you want.

the 6-12 months it used to take to get a phone line installed.
I thought timings used to be dictated by the "installation fee" you paid to the engineers.

Sorry out of town for a few days - it's one of these:

Which way do frame pumps go?
I guess the other way?

Certainly at one level, where a commercial line could be installed quickly but for about ten times the price of a domestic line. Quite likely at the other level, where if you knew someone in the GPO they might move you up the queue if you "bought them a drink"

Will TRP CX8.4 mini V brakes clear 700x41 Surly Knard tyres?
One of two things will happen if you succeed in making the back of the rivnut disappear; either your bottle cage will fall off, or you'll never get the bottle cage on in the first place because the screw will hit the battery and the whole bike will go up in flames.
